One of fifty one photographs originally in a photo album found in the National Wool Museum’s office. The album was water damaged and the images were removed for conservation. The images follow the process of wool. Beginning in a sheep paddock and finishing as a folded fabric. Used by Manning Chemist, Flinders Street Railway Station, Melbourne for folding individual powder portions into paper packages until 1984. Brass 'x' shaped folding frame with centre axle. There are indentations down one leg where the swivel pin is placeed to adjust height and to hold the two sloped top panels at varying distance apart. Marked on top plate: British Made.

The donor George Lister Coop was about 27 years of age when he took this photo. It is one of a small series of photos donated by him that relate to Mont Albert and Surrey Hills stations. The Mission accommodated seamen from all nationalities from the earliest days of operation. Asian seafarers are recorded visiting the Mission from the late 19th C. onwards. The first Chinese chaplain to be appointed was Rev Steven Wong who moved to Melbourne in the 1960s. Rev Wong served from 1963-1966 and according to his sons helped design these information brochures. Images of Rev'd Wong are included in the VC Database. The pamphlet gives days and times of activities such as dances and films and chapel services. Perry Mitchinson started working at the Mission in 1961, replacing Reverend C.J Eldridge-Doyle. He's seen here in what seems to be the Officers' Room, with the bow windows on Flinders Street. Trains with electric swing doors were often referred to as "dog boxes" or "doggies". They were manufactured at the Newport Workshops for the Victorian Railways. Swing Door cars had outward-opening doors. They were reasonably narrow, to ensure that two passing trains would not foul each other if doors were accidentally left open. The donor George Lister Coop was about 21 years of age when he took this photo. He advised that in order to access this point he had to scramble through a bit of rough undergrowth and beginnings of a car park. All near an open drain of some kind. It is one of a small series of photos donated by him that relate to Mont Albert and Surrey Hills stations. Rose Series postcard No. P 657, titled "St Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne". Photo shows two southbound trams, A W2 class car, possible bound for Toorak on route 8, followed by W3 class car at the Flinders Street stop in Swanston Street. Traffic lights for this intersection can be seen attached to street lighting and overhead pole. All the trams have the war time white strip under the driver's windows and the part white bumper bar. The Log Cabin was built by Thomas Henry Branchflower who had arrived from England late in 1921. It was built for Gwendoline Pitman after the death of her father Clarence Pitman and the disappearance of her sister Olive in July 1926. Gwendoline operated an artist and souvenir shop in the newly built Log Cabin in partnership with Peter Mackey who was a Melbourne optician and artist.
