Handwritten notes have been made for the acquisition dates for the tramcar and disposal details of the vehicle along the top edge. 3430 - Ballarat - typed carbon copy - two sheets, were taped together. Gives details of where purchased from , date of purchase, type, body builder, seating capacity, overall length, overall height, overall width, condition of tram, trolley base, Lightning arrester, controller make and type, Truck Maker and type, type of truck, axle type, wheel base, axle diameter, motors type and maker, Motor horsepower, Armature bearings, suspension bearings, gear teeth, Air compressor make and type, Brake Valves make and type, Governor make and type, Weight in tons and details of advertising space in racks. At base has typed (original) list of trams of the two types, single truckers and bogie trams. List of trams includes the scrubber and No. 20 which was scrapped prior to system closure. Yields information about the 1954 runaway accident of No. 24 in to the Bucks Head Hotel and has a strong association with the passenger on the tram.Typed copy of notes following an interview between Terry Hore and his mother Patricia Hore about the runaway tram incident in 1954, where No. 24 ran out of control down the Sturt St hill into the Bucks Head Hotel. His grandmother Mrs. Johanna Cochrane was on the tram. Gives his family recollections of the event, along with other newspaper events of the time. Has some 20 areas where information on the requisition could be recorded - on the rear sheet is provision for extending the cost of the job and accounting information. The off white sheet has been by the SEC Ballarat track gang to record their daily work, welding, track cleaning, etc for the period 1-8-1950 to 12-2-1951. Demonstrates aspects of the Ballarat Tramways fare system at the time of the one man trams, tokens which could be pre purchased by travellers and save time when boarding trams. See notes on file re these eg Reg Item 1801. Fare tokens - 2d - 21mm diameter - green celluloid - with "B.E.T." in large capitals on front centre of token and words "Ballarat Electric Tramways 1913" on circumference. On reverse in large font "2" and a small font "D" at top of the right - indicating token had a value of two pence. For details of use see Reg. Item 1794 and Reg. item 1801.1, 1802. In the view are Stansfield and Smith, F. Gallagher, Morseheads, Myer, The Bucks Head Hotel, and a sign for Rolfes. Note - very similar in location to item 8242, an earlier Rose Series photo with the same number 1712.
