1/10 size scale model of couta Boat Ariel. Built by Arthur Woodley Crib Point, April 2001- June 2002. Although later fitted with a motor, Ariel was one of the last couta boats designed principally for sailing, and still sails at Portland. Two examples of improvised surfboards made of solid timber planks, one possibly being an old ironingboard. These illustrate enthusiasm for surfing inspite of lack of ready cash. The recording was made in the studio of 3BO Bendigo. The record tells the of the Cohn brothers life in Bendigo. It was commissioned by Jack Magnus Cohn, the grandson of Julius Cohn about 1950s-1960s. A "12-inch L.P." black record in a brown paper cover. The cover has the records manufactures name and address printed on it. The record is single sided, the middle has a cream coloured label. Skittles was a game of European origin maybe as early as the 4th or 5th century and became popular in England in the 14th century. Many Bendigo hotels included Skittle Alley's and some early mentions of these include Epsom in 1856. Teams could even play for monetary prizes. Although generally considered an indoor game, skittles also made appearances at outings such as picnics and race meetings.2 Wooden skittles with knob at the top. See items 8604 and 8605. Wording and parts of the layout on the ticket typical of a Melbourne tram ticket. Manufacturer not known or the date, possibly mid 1950's based on the cardboard coins. The donor, who lived in Melbourne, recalls that they were part of an outfit which consisted of these items, a conductors cap and bag, similar to a Melbourne conductor's bag. In August, 1920, The Kew Town Council decided to establish a Baby Health Centre in Kew. The first Centre was opened in a room in the Town Hall in Walpole Street on 5 November 1920. In May 1939, the Railway Commissioners agreed to lease a site at the Kew Railway Station for a Baby Health Centre for a term of 21 years at 3 pounds per annum. A building, designed by Roland Chipperfield, was erected, and the Centre previously conducted at the Town Hall transferred there. This became known as the Denmark Street Baby Health Centre. (Cr. W.D.
