A photo of two ladies sewing costumes for an Annual Demonstration, it featured in the July 1954 Newsletter. The caption states 'The sewing room is always a hive of activity. Here most of the costumes are made for the Annual Demonstrations. Mrs E Brown and Mrs M M Livingstone take a turn at the machines.' They are possibly mothers of the junior legatees, though sometimes the wives of legatees also helped. Costumes were extremely elaborate and were often reused in different years. RAA with which he served in the Middle East and he later served with 2/1 Flash Spotting Battery R A A and 3 P W and I Unit in Borneo. He was inducted into Melbourne Legacy in 1954 on the nomination of Legatee Ron Foskett. He stepped down between 1967 and 1972 when he was re-inducted. He attained rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. He joined Peninsula Group, Melbourne Legacy in 1976, and served as its president in 1985. A photo of the Annual demonstration from October 1954. This photo shows the dancers around a Christmas tree. The costumes include ballerinas, golliwogs, tin soldiers, fairies and elaborate dresses. Also frogs or lizards, sugar plum fairies, rabbits, cossack dancers and cats or foxes. A similar routine was performed in 1952 as described in a newsletter. It mentions the routine as 'Toy makers dream' and had golliwogs and soldiers and Father Christmas. Three black and white photos of a group of girls in elaborate costumes on the stage of the Melbourne Town Hall for an Annual Demonstration. It shows a girl dressed as a spider in a large spiderweb with other girls dancing below. This routine was done multiple times over the years. These three appear to be the same year based on the set and camera angle. One of the photos was published in the December 1946 newsletter so the year was 1946. They were in an album of press photos taken during dress rehearsals from the 1940s and 1950s. Photograph of a truck of firewood delivering wood for Operation Firewood, where firewood was delivered to widows. From a black and white photo (00765) taken that day the men standing on the truck are Legatee Ken Markey from Cobram/Yarrawonga and Legatee Jack Gunn from Melbourne. Legacy provided this service for many years, with the help of Linfox who provided the trucks. In the June 1995 edition of The Answer Melbourne Legacy thanked the Cobram/Yarrawonga Group for their help in supplying and cutting the wood. Joynt's long association with Melbourne Legacy was celebrated at the Comradeship Hour at Legacy House on Tuesday 24 October 1989, two years after his death and just before the transfer of his uniform to the War Museum in Canberra. Photo of the trophy awarded at Legacy Bowls tournaments. It was named after Sir Dallas Brooks who was a patron of Melbourne Legacy when he was Governor of Victoria. Melbourne Legacy held regular bowls tournaments for Legatees. Some events were as a fundraiser for Legacy and well as a social event for legatees. The date is estimated to be the 1960s as it was with other slides from that period. The slides have been photographed to make digital images and moved to archive quality sleeves. A fundraising letter sent by Melbourne Legacy in 1991 to promote Badge Week sales to existing donors. The letter talks of the dream of a group of men to provide moral comfort to the widows and dependents of their fallen comrades. The legacy concept that grew from that dream became Melbourne Legacy. The spirit that bound the ANZACS in war was to bind them in peace. Junior Legatees Judy Bishop (on the left) and Jeanine Shinners (nee Hunt) dressed for an Annual Demonstration performance. They were taught by Miss E. Domec-Carre and went on to become soloists and then assistants at Girls' Classes. Jeanine later became an active Legatee with SE Group. He was discharged to enter Duntroon, was commissioned and served in Japan, Korea, the UK, Malaya, Borneo, Vietnam, and the United States. He then joined the Public Service and served in the Antarctic Division, Public Services Board and the Bureau of Air Safety Investigation.
