Pictured outside the Lake Bolac Post Office in 1904 are Mr Dalgleish and Post Mistress, Mrs Frances Murray. This was the original Post Office opened in 1887 and was located on the Glenelg Highway. The Sunbury Post Office with a residence pictured in the image was the first official post office building in the town. It opened on the corner of Brook and Evans Streets in 1892. Prior to that time postal services were conducted in an office at Sunbury Railway Station. Although the present day post office is still on the Brook-Evans Streets corner, the building has undergone many changes in services and appearances over the years. This laneway which ran between Bamford's Timber Yard on the corner of Warrandyte Rd and Maroondah Hwy became Civic Place. Two storey building is Renong Chambers. Bottom left shows Jack Orr's clothes hoists. Bottom right is Horman & Woolhouse plumbers. The Mt Dandenong Post Office & Store was originally built by Will Dower. The house and shop was built in 1912 and staffed by Ruby and Ada Dower. It became the Post Office in 1917 when Lil Badenhop sold her business following the death of her daughter Myrtle.
