Guest book signed by some of those who attended the Bachelor of Visual Art (Graphic Design / Multimedia) exhibitions and dinners hosted by the University of Ballarat. Names include the students themselves, parents, friends and alumni. Attendees' addresses include Victoria and interstate, USA (eg Florida, California), UK, the Phillipines in addresses. Other entries demonstrate the attendance of some of Victoria's well known designers and agencies at the time, including representatives from local Ballarat studios. Helmut Stenzel was third year lecturer throughout this time. Students putting together these end of year exhibitions were usually overseen by Helmut Stenzel, Steven Roberts and other lecturing staff.This guest book is significant in that it represents a period during which the Graphic Design/Multimedia program was thriving. Students and staff were engaged with Australian and international designers and guests. This is a syllabus programme prepared for the education of students by a teacher for the year 1967, along with his comments regarding the itinerary for each week's classes. The first section is divided into the schedule for each term of the school year. They are "Term 1", "Term 2", "Term 3" and "Term 4". These terms are further divided into columns with the headings "Grade 1'", "Grade 2", "Grade 4", "Grade 5", and "Grade 6".The Rows are titled "Speech", "Reading", "English", "Poetry", "Spelling & Dictation", "Writing", "Maths", "Social Studies", "Nature", "Creative Activities", "Music", and "Health & Phys. Ed". along with comments regarding the events of the week's classes. What follows is the class plan for each grade level with an index detailing each aspect of that grades education for the 1967 school year. They are "Infant Syllabus Grades 1 & 2" with the sections "Reading", "Word Study", "Number", "Spoken Expression", "Written Expression", "Writing", "Social Studies", "Nature Study", "Health", "Physical Education", "Literature", "Creative Activities", "Music", and "Character Training". The first Emerging Writers’ Festival was held at the Victoria Hotel in Little Collins Street in January, 2004. The inaugural festival developed out of Express Media's Make It Up zine fair. It brought together the offerings of 68 writers from across Australia in a two-day series of panels, readings, performances and workshops. Express Media ‘s Artistic Director Richard Watts was the driving force behind the ground breaking initiative that was to become the Emerging Writers’ Festival. It was clear to him through the success and the demand of the Make It Up zine fair, which had its origins in 2000, that writing and writers were in the process of radical change and needed a new environment to grow. In response, Express Media formed a partnership with the Victorian Writers’ Centre and held the first Emerging Writers’ Festival with the tagline, the best Australian writers you haven’t heard of yet. The beginnings were humble but the foundations strong. Students attended Sunday School classes at the Kergunyah Presbyterian Church. Sunday school was held in a little 16 foot square wooden building which came from Rocky Valley after it was no longer needed there. Ewen Wallace's father initiated and organised the move. C2011 the building was knocked down because of white ants. The Presbyterian Church will be 125 years old in 2015.Historical: Religious Education: This book was used by teachers who took classes at the Sunday School at the Kergunyah Presbyterian Church.
