Round pressed steel badge with the words "ESCo OF V. LTD." pressed into the badge around the top portion of the badge, the word "DRIVER" and number "15" pressed into the lower half of the badge -with small horizontal lines within the individual letters. Appears to have had a nickel silver finish originally. On rear badge two metal lugs have been soldered onto the badge. Maker's name no obvious on rear of badge as for Reg item 1952. Son of the late Mr. & Mrs George Elliott of Peg leg Road Eaglehawk, enlisted in August 1914 and embarked from Melbourne. N. S. Draper enlisted at the same time. Sydney Elliott was a member of the Eaglehawk Fire Brigade, Rifle club and was chosen to do sniping duty. G. The Lifeboat Queenscliffe was built in Adelaide and commenced service at Queenscliff in 1926. She was taken out of service in 1976 by the Marine Board of Victoria and subsequently offered to the Borough of Queenscliffe for care and display. The Lifeboat is listed on the Australian Register of Historic Vessels (ARHV). To view the classification follow the link to the Queenscliffe page on the ARHV site. During her 50 years of service the Queenscliffe attended many calls for assistance both inside and outside the Heads. Some of the vessels and calls for help the lifeboat attended were: 1960 - Army Commandos lost in the Rip 1967 - The search for the late Prime Minister Harold Holt 1974 - The last attendance to a vessel was to the Brisbane Trader which was on fire The shed which housed the lifeboat is located on the Queenscliff 'New' or 'Steamer' Pier (built in 1884). This shed includes the internal section of the slipway used to launch and retrieve the lifeboat. The external slipway and some other structures associated with the lifeboat shed have been removed. Originally fitted with two masts, the stern mast being removed in the 1960's. A retractable centre plate was used when under sail. Delivered with an 80 hp Wayburn petrol motor which was later replaced by a 72 hp Gardiner diesel. "Cherry and Sons Pty Ltd", dates this churn to post 1904. In 1858, Edward Cherry began making butter churns in his spare time. Thisi became a full time business with the first factory opening in Gisborne in 1875, using imported NZ kauri pine. Steam was used to bend the base and then it was 12 months drying time before the churn was available for sale. Edward died in 1909 and the business was taken over by his son George until his death in 1917. During the polio epidemic in the 1930's, the company also made respirators. The company closed iin the 1970's.A wooden butter churn with handle and lid. the handle turns a spoked wooden paddle inside to make butter. It is a light brown colour, 30 centimetres high, 32 centimetres long and 21 centimetres wide. The wooden handle on the outside of the box is nine centimetres long three and a half centimetres wide tapering to one and a half centimetres wide, it's attached to a piece of metal that's 13 centimetres long, one and a half centimetres wide and half a centimetre thick. This is attached to a metal rod one centimetre in diameter that goes through the box and is attached to the other side of the box. A wooden frame 24 centimetres by 18 centimetres with two one centimetre wide pieces inside it is attached to the rod.CHERRY & SONS PTY. LTD.
