Ephemera - Real estate sale, Cranny Sambell & Co, "Camberwell Panorama Estate", Oct. 1923
Pamphlet advertising the sale of land at the "Camberwell Panorama Estate" - Doncaster and Bulleen Road 13-10-1923. Gives terms of sale, photos showing the views and a nearby shopping centre. Has a large photo of MMTB No. 20 on the front cover. The tramcar is of the Hawthorn Tramways Trust four-door bogie type. MMTB No 20 was an ex-Prahran and Malvern single trucker or small tram A class. Gives details of the 110 lots to be sold, terms, location, and that the tram was proposed to be extended to the corner. This extension took place in 1937. The locality plan shows proposed plans for tram lines in Belmore Road and Burke Road north of Whitehorse Road. Shows the detailed switch locations that enable the overhead to be isolated or changed when electrical work was being undertaken on the overhead that required it to be isolated. Shows how the various sections were fed from the power station. Revision C issued 2-9-1958.Yields information about the arrangement of the power supply to the trams from the power station and changes made to the system about 13 years prior to closure. Functional object - Section of 1906 rail - Essendon Tram Depot, Carnegie Steel Co, 1906
Rail used by The North Melbourne and Essendon Tramways and Lighting Co. at their Essendon Depot. Based on item 2566, originally rolled by Carnegie Steel in Pittsburg. The reference link provides the history of the company. Section taken from No. 13 road July 2005. Has rolling date welded onto one side, with location and date written in yellow paint on the foot of the rail.Yields information about the type of rail used in 1906 at Essendon Tram depot.Section of rail recovered from Essendon Tram depot relay with "1906" welded to one side. Has a hole on the underside cut using an oxy-acetylene torch for a bolt possibly to secure the rail. Has been sawn from a salvaged section of rail. Original features photos of Ballarat City and Town, its buildings, parks and the various industries and organisations that were in Ballarat at the time of publication, including ESCo. Many photos features ESCo trams. Photos sepia toned. Has some red colour block printing on the front cover and rear, for Star Oil Engines. On inside back cover is a map with the places of interest and tram route map, marked in red. Pages are un-numbered. Original published by Ballarat East Town Council and Ballaarat City Council. On cover has number stamped in black in, "No. 87" (assume facsimile copy No.). Photos with publication show tram No. 21, built 1913 and ESCo photo page shows Mr. Pringle as Manager. Mr Pringle became manager in January 1911, As there is no photos of the "Avenue of Honour", or other mention of the first world war, assume original published about 1913 or 1914. Ephemera - Weekly ticket, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), Block of SECV 3/- weekly tickets
Each ticket medium weight card, on pink card and printed on black ink to give day numbers, monthly, week number, transfers and day of the week, excluding Sunday. Numbered on the right end of the ticket. Static number (1 - 7) on the left may be to indicate the day of the issue. On the rear of the ticket are the details of the ticket use, allowing passengers one return journey between City and section 3 or 4. Not available on Sundays. Form Number TYE 3-13 Note: 1. See Reg. Item 230 on page dated Feb. 22 for another two weekly tickets, c1950, price 2/6 - similar to these, but used. Page 38 of Ballarat Tramways has a photo of the 2/6 weekly ticket, with a note, used about 1950's. See also Reg. item 2102, 2103, 2104 and 2105. Drawings for 13 different weight rails, straight and curves, 90lb/yard to 116 and a drawing of the BS tyre profile for tram car wheels and how it interfaces with a rail.
