Driver or motorman standing by the front of the tram, with a passenger standing alongside the tram. No. 39 has destination of Victoria St and has a SEC Electric Cooking roof advertisement. Tram alongside the short pole tram stop. In the background is the Baby shop, the SEC offices and Tunbridge's buildings. Date of photo on folder - 23/2/1962. Original negative rescanned 24/5/2020 and image file updated. Gives details of the A class trams on the left hand side and notes that tram 246 was the first with the Yarra livery (1/3/2000) and that it was blue and green to represent the blue of Port Phillip Bay and the green of Melbourne's many parks. VicSig.net accessed 12/1/2016 notes that 262 was one of the first four in the Yarra Trams livery launched on the same date. Has a note that the tram cut-out form is copyright Andrew Sturt Smith 2000. ... trams ...This is a small commercially made tram model. Its design appears to be very loosely based on a Melbourne W Class tram design. The motorman’s cabin is realistic, but the body with its centre doorway does not look like any known tram designs. The wheels and their arrangement at the very ends of the tram are not realistic at all. No details of the maker, or where or when the model was made. ... trams ...Photos show W class 304 after delivery from Adelaide being unloaded by the travelling yard crane. The tram was built in Adelaide by the Holden Bodyworks and completed at the Workshops. The tram entered service on 14-8-1924. It was converted to a W2 class tram in Dec. 1932. The second photo shows the tram being loaded onto a horse-drawn jinker.
