Embarked for France 26.3.1916. Promoted to Sergeant 10.8.1916. Hospitalised with trench feet on 6.11.1916. Promoted 2nd Lieutenant 3.3.1917. Hospitalised with haemoptysis 20.7.1917. Leslie Pryde enlisted in the AIF 2.8.15 in Divisional Ammunition Column 1 reinforcement 14 age 28 years. Embarked for Egypt 28.1.1916, transfers to 13th FAB 16.4.1916, embarks for France 16.6.1916, promoted to Cpl 7.6.1917, hospital with Trench Fever 12.12.1917, return to unit 30.12.1917, promoted to Sgt 26.1.1918, discharged from the AIF on 7.4.1919. Leslie Pryde was awarded the Military Medal on 15.10.1917 East of Westhoek serving in the 49th Battery. John George Duncan McInnes came from Lyall in Victoria. He enlisted in the AIF 29.2.1916 as No 5736 in the 6th Batt aged 26 years. He embarked on 3.7.1916 for England. He then transfered to the 59th Batt AIF. In the field he was hospitalised with Broncho Pneumonia and passed away on 31.12.1916. Refer 782.2, 786P.The outer brown frame has very fine markings in small circle arrangements. The centre photo has a frame edge with a flowing ribbon across the top. The centre photo itself is 100mm wide x 150mm high. Hospital 2.11.39 - 6.11.39 unlisted, posted to 2/7th Bn 6th Division 2nd AIF on 25.11.1939, hospital 2.3.40 - 19.3.40 unlisted, embarked for the Middle East 18.4.1940 arriving 17.5.1940, hospital twice between 31.7.40 - 22.8.40 unlisted, total 11 days, embark for Greece 9.4.1941, return to Middle East late May/June 1941 medical, promoted Cpl 20.7.1941, A/Sgt 14.2.1942, embark for Australia 12.3.1942 arriving 38.3.1942, hospital 9.6.42 - 16.6.42 with Threadworm, embark for New Guinea 13.10.1942, promoted Sgt 29.10.42, revert to Cpl at own request 25.11.1942, hospital with Malaria 18.1.43 - 9.2.43. During the period of August 1st - 5th 1943 at an area called Bobdubi Ridge Alan is awarded the DCM and is WIA on the 5th, GSW to right shoulder, embarks from Pt Moresby 27.9.1943 arriving Cairns 30.9.1943, hospital Malaria 13.2.44 - 10.3.44, accidental injury 6.5.1944 fractured left clavicle, discharged from the Army on 8.9.1944. The Official History of Australia in WW2 states that Sgt Naismith had gained a reputation as a booby trap expert and was interested in these gadgets.The citation is on a light parchment type paper rectangular in shape. Colour is into a fawn with stains and marks from handling. Creases from folding have left several small tears. The rear is blank with sticky tape holding the citation together at the folds.At the top of the Citation is a seal, blue in colour with the words, Govenor - General, Commonwealth of Australia. The centre coat of arms of the seal has fine writing which is unreadable. The Greek Commemorative War Medal was instituted by Royal Decree on 19.8.1947. It was awarded for service from the outbreak of war in Greece 1940 to the fall of Crete in 1941. It was also awarded to allied foreign troops who saw service as per the areas covered on the reverse of the medal. This medal was awarded to Alan Kenneth NAISMITH DCM, VX4838, 2/7th Bn. Refer Cat No 1421 for his service details.The medal itself is gilded bronze. The front of the medal in the centre is a relief of King George II of Greece. Around the outside is a laurel wreath joined at the top by a crown. The ribbon is attached by a ring suspender.The ribbon has a centre light blue stripe with a dark blue stripe each side. on the edges of the ribbon is a thin light blue stripe. The rear of the ribbon has a pin clasp The rear of the medal has a thin raised edge on the outside of the medal. The inscription in the centre is raised. The wording is in Greek except for the date. This section of aluminium sheet with Swastika is from a German ME 109 fighter that was shot down by RAAF pilot Brian Eaton over Libya in Nov 1942. This section of the plane was bought back to Australia by Alex ARCHER No 40637 who was a despatch rider with No 3 Sqd RAAF. Refer Cat No 2597 for Alex Archers service details. Brian Eaton. The design for the Memorial plaque was chosen from 800 entries in 1918.Mr Preston from Liverpool was the winner A prize of 250 pounds.The Plaque was to be as a solace for bereavement and as a Momento.The first Plaues to arrive in Australia durring 1922.They were to become commonly known as THE DEATH PENNY or DEAD MANS PENNY. R.L.Davey enlisted No 5334 in the 14th reinforcements to the 23rd Batt AIF on 27.3.16. The card was sent by James Henry Wicks to his sister, unknown. After serving in the 7th Batt, J H Wicks transfered to the 5th Machine Gun Batt AIF in France. He returned home in 1919Greeting card.The outer card is a parchment type paper fawn in colour. The front cover has a yellow ribbon band rectangular in shape glued to the card. A rectangular card is glued over this. The card contains flowers, an image of a church or mosque in a half circle. Above this to the right is wording.
