At 10.30 pm on October 3, 1974, smoke was seen coming from the arcade building. Miss O'Shannessy, the owner of the baby wear shop had switched on a heater that accidentally ignited some of the shop's contents. The rug was made at Albion Mill in Geelong. It was owned by Mr Angus Peter and Ms Mary Anne Downie, the parents of Mary Virr (the donor). They lived in Cobden. The rug was made at Albion Mills in Geelong. It was owned by Norman Downie, the uncle of Mary Virr (the donor) who inherited the rug after Mr Downie's death in the early 1990s. Mr Downie and his family had several connections to the wool industry in Geelong. He would send pieces of fabric out to Mrs Virr and her mother in Cobden every year. The bus petrol engine International type was formerly in the possession of, one, Cruickshanks, an independent driver with a permit from the council to run between The Point of Pictures?, Ness St, Mt Pleasant via Bond St, Peel St. to City but the Electric Supply Coy purchased the vehicle and ran it from 1927 to 1929 (unpayable). The most use it was put to was on Mt Pleasant, but it ran also to High School as replacement for trams on Sebas if an electric tram was derailed. Perhaps the most unique trips it ever made was between Forest St. Wendouree to the Aerodrome, 1929, on the occasions of any ?? flight. Fare tokens - 1 1/2d - 21mm diameter - light brown celluloid - with "B.E.T." in large capitals on front centre of token and words "Ballarat Electric Tramways 1913" on circumference.
