Concerts were held at ten venues in Collins street grand music promenade venues:Baptist Church, St Michaels, ANZ Cathedral Room, 101 Collins Street, Kay Craddock bookshop, Georges Dining Room, Scot's Church, 161 Collins Street, the gold vaults of the Old Treasury Building. Note: It was recorded in the secretary's diary that concerts associated with the Collins Street Grand Music Promenade were held at the Melbourne Athenaeum Theatre all day on Sunday the 6th of November. Made by Mrs Noel (Lizzie) Morton, the donor's mother on their farm "Wanera" at Benjeroop on the Murray River. It was stitched with a treadle machine. Her sister Flora MacDonald did the running stitch and provided the silk backing. The squares were sent as samples from a firm called "Fred Hesse" who advertised in the Melbourne papers "Be smart and dressy In a suit by Fred Hesse". The buyer chose a sample and then sent it back with measurements and received a "mail order" suit.A small knee rug made from suiting samples machine stitched together. Doll (Dorothy) Bearup. Not much is known of the family. Records shows the Bearup Family came to Stawell around 1908 -1913 from Hamelton (502 School index). RM2 (1908 - 1913). There is also the remains of the old well. The old smoke house used to be down there also. All these things have disappeared a long time ago. The house is the only thing that remains of the Schwerkolt property. The wine cellars and other buildings fell down years ago after the bush fires burnt the wooden supports. You will notice the toilet has about 3 boards off the top.
