Tom Bentley (1912-1993) was born in Lancashire (UK). From circa 1951, he was the Overseer/Superintendent of Outdoor Works for Kew City Council. Until his retirement in the 1970s, he was based at the Kew Council Depot, located in the former MTB Horse Tram Depot on the corner of Disraeli and High Streets, Kew. Photograph - Black and white of ESCo tram 8 towing a former horse tram as a trailer. Tram 8 has been fitted with windscreens and is in a one-man operation configuration with the rear entry closed off. There are passengers in the tram but there do not appear to be any in the trailer. Given that the weather blinds of tram 8 are drawn or closed, it is likely a winter day, and possibly the trailer is being used as the bicycle transfer car between the depot and the city office. The photographer is not known.
