These are handwritten land receipt documents between Maxwell Proctor and W. Hunter (owner) 1946 - 1951 and between M.H. Proctor and H. Proctor 1947, 1948 and 1949.Two sets of handwritten land receipts in a used envelope with blue type at the bottom: Chamber of Manufactures Insurance Ltd. The first set of three receipts are written in copperplate handwriting for Mr. M. H. Proctor and are for the purchase of land, from W. Hunter (owner of the land). They are dated Feb 28th 1946, 17th April 1951 and an indecipherable date o the last one. The second set of six handwritten receipts are from M. H. Proctor to H. Proctor for land purchased: May 27th 1947, Dec 7th 1947, June 22nd 1948, Dec 14th 1948, May 30th 1949 and Dec.6th 1949. Arthur Henry Dear was an employee of the City of Kew, acting as Hall Keeper of the Kew Recreation Hall in Wellington Street, and later the new Kew City Hall in Cotham Road. The Arthur Dear Collection contains memorabilia - tickets, programmes, invitations - as well as his identification badge. Items in the collection dates from the 1940s to the 1960s. The Kew Recreation Hall (Wellington Street) and later the Kew City Hall (Cotham Road) were major locations in suburban Melbourne in the postwar period for civic and private events including theatre productions and exhibitions. The Arthur Dear Collection (in conjunction with the scrapbooks compiled by Marion Tilley) provide a comprehensive snapshot of performing arts in Kew during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. J Allan Anderson graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1902. The following year he joined a law practice in the Victorian country centre of Stawell, where he met and married Ethel M. Allingham. Moving to East Kew, Melbourne, in 1917, where his son attended Trinity Grammar School. By March 1921 the family had exchanged their annual summer holidays at Mentone for permanent residence when they moved into Captain Dawson's former home, 'Riviera' off Mentone Parade. Disappointed with standards at this son's new local school and now living in a fast-growing town and district, in 1922, on a train journey to his office in the City, 46-year-old solicitor J.A. Anderson came up with the idea to form a new grammar school for boys in Mentone.

J. Mann and Sons was first established as a farm produce store in 1921. The range of products was extended in the 1930s and included groceries and hardware, as well as the first petrol bowser in Wodonga outside the store. After WWII, the premises were extended and the range of products continued to increase. In the 1960s the Mann Family opened a new supermarket in Wodonga, in addition to the hardware business, providing steel, plumbing and industrial supplies, and they employed over 100 people at one stage. With changes in the retail industry, the Mann Family sold the main hardware business to Bunnings and the steel and rural produce business to the Kelly brothers in 2006. Mercury Scales was founded in Thebarton, South Australia in 1946. The business experienced rapid growth, leading to its joining with A&D’s global organisation and evolving into A&D Mercury. IN 2023 A&D Weighing is an Australian leader in the supply of electronic weighing scales, balances, metal detectors, checkweighers and weighing systems. This model was approved on 13 February 1980. On 25 March 1988 approval to change the business name to A & D Mercury Pty Ltd was granted by the Australian National Standards Commission. A set of cast iron scales.
