Returned to RDHS from Federation Estate Art GalleryPhoto 1 (7009a) - Former "Ringwood Mail" newspaper office, Adelaide Street, 1955, looking along laneway to west. Lane between Bamford's Timber Yard, corner Warrandyte Rd. and Maroondah Highway, and went to Melbourne St, later called Civic Place. Other buildings were Ham's Billiard Saloon, the two-story Renong Chambers, bottom left Jack Orr's clothes hoists and bottom right Horman & Woolhouse plumbers. All demolished for the building of Eastland in the 1960s. The photo shown is a typical example but may not be in the collection. -

Photograph of Fancy-Dressed Children after WWI celebrating the end and victory of World War One. A child is dressed in a Dutch dress, others in a dressing gown, grass skirt, a soldier with gun. The parents and other adults are in the background, some learning on the fence. There is a building the top right corner. Possible the old Ringwood sports ground in Ringwood Street. Some children have displays with "Victory" on them. Another has the British and Australian flags. -

Orange 4 ring Binder presented to Mrs Vera Wigley, wife of builder Evan Wigley containing photographs of the previous Methodist Church, and of the construction, opening and completion of the replacement Methodist Church buildings in 1963. The photographs are separately catalogued under Registration Numbers 11002-01 to 11002-10Cover: Ringwood Methodist Church. E.A.Wigley Builder. Photographs Inside presentation sheet: Presented to Mrs Vera Wigley from the members of the Ringwood Methodist Property Board as an expression of their affection for Evan. and with appreciation for his devoted work as a member of the Board. its Secretary and Property Steward. The Church Buildings will be a constant memorial to him. -

Built in 1970 by Pat Burley, Iceland was a popular attraction, with bands as well as ice skating. It was sold in 1981, and subsequently was converted into various business units. 4 photos taken during the demolition if the old Ringwood Ice-skating Rink building, Iceland, 28 Maroondah Highway between New Street and the freeway. -

Flyer includes extract from "The Sun" 30/10/1924. "Ringwood has been created a Borough with capital value of £680,000. In 1908 there were 173 houses, 8 shops and 720 people. In 1918 the respective figures were 520, 45 and 2,080. For twelve months ended June, 1924, £51,000 worth of Home Sites were sold and £26,000 worth of new buildings were erected. Outward (train) passenger journeys have increased from 94,000 in 1919 to 182,000 in 1923.
