Camberwell Girls Grammar School was from 1927-1929 called St Mark's Church of England Girls' Grammar SchoolThis image is the earliest documentation of the School's relocation from St Mark's Church to its current site at 2 Torrington Street, Canterbury Victoria. Miss Louisa Stafford Taylor was Principal of the School from 1928 - June 1959. It has rarity value as the only image known of the School at this time. The image also shows that the School accepted enrolments from boys who attended the lower classes.Sepia photograph of the whole School assembled outside Torrington House in February 1927 after moving from its first location at St Mark's Church, Camberwell. Worn by the grandmother of Marjorie Burton (nee Whiteman) in England early 19th century. Marjorie Burton ( nee Whiteman), born 12 June, in Birmingham, England came to Orbost in 1995. When she was admitted to Waratah Lodge, Orbost, following a stroke, her daughter Ann Quaadgras donated a number of her mother's personal belongings to the Orbost & District Historical Society. Marjorie died in 2015.These items are examples of the needlework skills of women in the 19th century. They are items which are no longer commonly worn.Two night caps. 2483.1 is a pink lady's night cap, hand sewn and cotton edged in lace. President of the Victorian Conference of the Methodist Church of Australasia in 1877. Made a supernumerary in 1893. Gustave Auguste Besson and his family manufactured brass musical instruments in France from 1837 and in England from 1857. In England the instruments were stamped "Besson & Co" between 1895 and 1904. The word ‘Prototype’ was stamped on all Besson instruments manufactured after 1885-86 and referred to the method of manufacture. This mouthpiece was found by Warren Bowen in 2017, in the vicinity of the former Linton Railway Station.Metal mouthpiece for a brass musical instrument, probably a cornet or trumpet. This suit was made to order in 1975 for Ted Henry at a Fletcher Jones factory, probably the one in Warrnambool. The other items were obtained at the same time. David Fletcher Jones began his business by opening shops in Liebig Street Warrnambool in the 1920s. His Man's Shop sold suits and overcoats and manufactured men's clothing on site. In 1946 a Fletcher Jones shop was opened in Melbourne and a factory was opened in Warrnambool in 1948. The Fletcher Jones and Staff Company expanded and became well known throughout Australia for the quality of its men's and women's clothing. The Company ceased business in 2011. The surname "Henry" is well known in Warrnambool and district. Alexina Weller was the first wife of Reverend Weller. They arrived in Melbourne in January 1925. They lived in the Mission's Manse for 4 years. Alexina was part of the Ladies Harbour Lights Guild. They left in January 1929 for South America. She died in January 1934.The organ was donated in memory of Mrs Weller as a member of the Ladies Harbour Lights Guild.
