Historical information
Claxton was born in 1832 in England and settled in Ballarat in 1856. He was an active member of the Ballarat community and the development of the Lake and Gardens.
Significance
Claxton's contributions to the development of Ballarat were significant especially the development of the Gardens and the Lake.
