Set of 14 black and white photographs of the use of former sleeper transport car, W2 485 - see page 80 of Destination City 5th Edition for more details of the tram. Tram body being used to train emergency staff how to recover a tramcar that had been tipped over onto its side. DC5, notes it was stored at Preston workshops and later "used an instruction car to train emergency crews in the righting of the overturned trams. It was overturned several times in this role." Note: - would have been at the time, probably the only way to do this, as mobile cranes were only just starting to be developed. Truck is an AEC built Matador truck. Set of five Blocks each of 200 tickets bundled for issuing purposes - green ink on off white paper, 80c City Section ticket with the name The Met and their logo at the top of the ticket. The ticket number is in black ink. The tickets have been wrapped with a sheet of brown paper secured with adhesive tape. Two page article or manuscript titled "A few Memories of "W" class tram by Marilynn Fahey". Article used in a City of Port Phillip book during the 2015 Seniors Festival and in an exhibition during 2016. Describes the writers view of the demise of W class trams in Chapel St, the tramcars themselves, their ambiance, that one went to Denmark, conductors, use, operations, operation of the trams on route 78. The Museum provided a number of photographs to the City - see emails with Anne Scambary for use in a digital story exhibition. Item as a word document provided by Anne as the basis of the photo request. Timetable printed on off white paper, folded into 9, titled "Timetable of first and last trams and buses also All-night and Sunday morning services", setting out services, fares, city concession fares, all night fares, fare sections, and that strips of 3d tickets could be bought from Head Office. Has a "advertisement" for shoppers travelling in comfort between 930 and 430, golf, dinner and afternoon tea at the Wattle Park Chalet. Dated April 1951. A panel on the rear has an advertisement for employment of Conductors and Conductresses, gives conditions and where to apply. Printed by Sands and McDougall.
