The most famous Semak appliance is the 'Vitamizer'. Designed in 1948 it quickly became the standard for blending. An updated version was relaunched in 2012. The Semak vitamiser was advertised as a wonder machine which every housewife should have.Advertising claimed that the Semak could whip cream, grind coffee, blend jam, makes soups and sauces, makes cakes, sandwich spreads, ice-cream, special diets, puree fruit drinks, supper snacks, mayonnaise and dessert. It sold for £21. Demonstrations were conducted in electrical stores across the nation. Demonstrates aspects of the Ballarat Tramways in the 1920’s and in an employee’s daily working life – eg their hours, wages, deductions etc. Has a strong association with individuals who worked for ESCo and the organisation itself.Leather bound journal titled ""Tramway Traffic Wages Book" Each sheet numbered 1 - 248 (see note below), wages requisition number, headed "Tramway Traffic Department". Printed by Berry Anderson &co, printers reorder number 16422. Book has sewn sections to cover with lining - crocodile skin style, about 6mm thick heavy cardboard covers, with leather corners and leather central binding, titled "Tramway Traffic Wages Book". Has many additional notes or sheet incorporated into book - generally glued, duty stamps, signed over by person who collected the wages, notes from crews requesting special arrangements for collection, wages receipt for Tramway Traffic and Lighting department. Also has initials of people who prepared, checked and audited the entries with dates. From 12/8/1919 to 23/12/1924. Note pages 246-47 sent as sample to Northcote and Preston tramways 12/7/1920, page 244-45 as sample to printer - 17/7/1924. Created by the ESCo (Ballarat Tramways) in order to have a record of payments made to its tramway operating staff. Each page of the volume is divided into rows and headed columns. Information appearing in each row includes the name, occupation, rate of pay, days worked and total fortnightly pay. There is provision for each row to contain details for two fortnightly pays. Occupations listed in these entries include driver, conductors and points boys, of various pay rates. Two sections, stapled and bound within heavy card covers, 80 pages with a typed index pasted inside rear covers, printed by Sands & McDougall, Melbourne. Authorised by W. O. Strangward Secretary 1923 and printed 1924. On first page, has number "6246" stamped onto the page. Provides the Rules and Regulations of the Board concerning Accidents, fire, general instructions, signals, uniforms, staff working, special instructions to Motormen and Conductors, tickets, safety for both Cable and Electric tramways. By-Law No. 5 provided on pages 76 to 80. On page 80 has the Seal of the Board and those who signed the document - Alex Cameron Chairman, Thos. O'L Reynolds Member and W. O. Strangward Secretary. Inside rear cover is a 12 page typed index to the rules in broken into sections for each letter of the alphabet - pages for M to O missing.
