This sign was situated outside the Soldiers Memorial Institute building in Pall Mall Bendigo. It was in the centre space of the Portico. It was taken down approximately 1999 - 2000 due to damage. This newsletter the "Diggers Digest" from the Bendigo RSL Sub Branch is midterm 1999. Some of the main points are; President Holmes message re the introduction of Affiliate Members to the RSL at the AGM on Feb 8th and the full Committee that was elected, 8 Office Bearers and 12 General Committee. Anzac Day led by 108 year old Jack Lockett who recieved the 80th Anniversary medal at the service on behalf of the Prime Minister, guest speaker was Dick Levy RAAF. The work of the Central Victorian Veterans Support Centre (C.V.V.S.C) in gaining Pensions and Welfare for Ex Service personal. The success of the first Sandakan service held in Crook street on March 7th at the Memorial erected there, guest Speaker being Bruce Ruxton State President. Museum report. This Unibic Limited Edition ANZAC Biscuit tin is one of a series produced in 2014 to commemorate 100 years 1914 - 2014 of World War 1, focusing on the Victoria Cross, The Anzac Biscuit Story and The RSL Story. The included paper sheet explains the Victoria Cross in full detail. The RSL and Modern Baking Pty Ltd in Broadmeadows provided this product.A medium sized rectangular Limited Edition green and gold lidded Anzac Biscuit Tin with an old brown and grey toned photograph image of soldiers of the 5th Division in a motor car. The lettering for the tin is stamped in red and white at the top of the lid with Limited Edition in gold. At the bottom of the tin is written - Australian 5th Division 500g including a gold coloured embossed Rising Sun Badge. There is a brief explanation about the 5th Divisional Motor Car's location on one side of the tin as well as an explanation of the meaning of the Rising Sun Badge on the other side. The back of the tin has information about The Anzac Biscuit Story and a recipe. Inside the tin there is a folded brochure about the seven 2019 Limited Edition Tins that were available at the time.As stated above there is the name of the tin 'Limited Edition ANZAC Biscuit' with details of the tin's meaning for the Australian 5th Division. The flag was made to replace an existing Legacy flag (at the insistence of Myra Healey) that was stolen. Myra was a member of the Upper Yarra Legacy Widows Club. The flag was flown next to the Australian flag in the RSL Memorial Garden. The symbol of Legacy is the Torch and Wreath of Laurel. The Torch signifies the undying flame of service and sacrifice of those who gave their lives for their country.The Legacy flag was a reminder that Legacy was still active in its work for families of ex-service and serving personnel.Large rectangular synthetic flag with the word Legacy and the torch logo, canvas binding down the left hand edge.
