Photograph shows the cafe and adjacent buildings on the area that was enclosed by Esplanade tram Loop or Luna Park loop. Known as "Candy Corner" on MMTB drawings and locally. The reference page 9 gives the background to the site and its use. The café was designed by Carlo Catani, who is also remembered as the landscape designer for other parts of St Kilda including Catani Gardens. It is now used by a McDonalds store. In front of the building is a board advertising or promoting World War 2 war-saving schemes for St Kilda streets. Copy negative of a photograph of L 101 Balaclava Junction Hawthorn Road Caufield, with a destination of Glenhuntly Depot. The tram was fitted with a route number boxes in June 1939, which provides a date era for the tram, but is yet to have its drop centre floor raised. Article written by the Age transport Reporter, Patrick Hatch. Discusses the possible non-return of trams to Domain Road following the opening of the new tram interchange at ANZAC station. Following the complete closure of the St Kilda - Brighton Electric street railway (tramway) in 1959, the Brighton St Kilda Bus lines operated a service under a contract with the Victorian Railways with a joint ticketting arrangement. These tickets are weekly tickets for various locations along the former tramway. Those tickets available for Melbourne have the conditions of travel on the rear. The two vertical stripes indicated that the ticket was available to pass through the gates at Flinders St or Spencer St, while the large cross indicated to a ticket checker that the ticket was not available beyond St Kilda station or to pass through a set of gates. All printed on a off white card. The Brighton - St Kilda Bus lines could issue tickets, as an agent, from St Kilda Railway Station to Melbourne on behalf of the Victorian Railways. These dated tickets represent a sample of these. A group of tickets would be issued to each driver for the day who would issue them in order from his ticket tray or kit. Following the closure of the St Kilda Brighton Electric Street Railway (tramway), the Victorian Railways continued to sell through rail and bus tickets from Flinders St Station.
