The blue and black printed ticket was issued and used for the 2nd & 3rd days of the 1973 Sunbury Pop Festival. The Festival as held on the property of George Duncan at Diggers Rest on the banks of Jacksons Creek. It was held over the 3 days of the Australia Day Weekend in January. The 'smiley' stamp on the back of the ticket was used as a "passout" check. The tickets were collected by Nicholas Hall who worked as a Security Officer at one of the gates.A blue and black cardboard ticket printed for the 1973 Sunbury Pop Festival. The words Sunbury 73 are in large block letters across the bottom of the ticket and there are four silhouetted figures - 2 male and 2 female. One male is riding a bike and other male is carrying a double bass on his head. The two females are walking. Set of 7 Blocks of 200 tickets - turquoise ink on off white paper, denomination 6c, headed State Electricity Commission of Victoria, Provincial Tramways. On rear in turquoise ink is a diagonal criss cross or tartan pattern. The 200 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy cardboard back with a heavy metal staple and a small cardboard retaining strip at the top of the ticket. The ticket number is in black ink. Ticket block starting numbers: 400200, 402200, 402400, 420600, 402800, 400801, 400600 402000. One block has one missing ticket. Methodist societies and churches issued quarterly tickets (or class tickets or love feast tickets) as a way to identify members of good standing in the society or church. Tickets also became a way of offering admission to the love feast, or Agape, which was a service around a shared meal, but distinct from the Lord’s Supper. Quarterly tickets typically included the member’s name, the minister’s name, the date, as well as a Scriptural text. The practice of issuing quarterly tickets began in the mid-eighteenth century with John Wesley and continued in many Methodist organizations throughout the nineteenth century.
