Victorian Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (VIOSH) Australia is the Asia-Pacific centre for teaching and research in occupational health and safety (OHS) and is known as one of Australia's leaders on the field. VIOSH has a global reputation for its innovative approach within the field of OHS management. VIOSH had its first intake of students in 1979. At that time the Institution was known as the Ballarat College of Advanced Education. In 1990 it became known as Ballarat University College, then in 1994 as University of Ballarat. It was 2014 that it became Federation University. VIOSH Australia students are safety managers, senior advisors and experienced OHS professionals. They come from all over Australia and industry. Students are taught active research and enquiry; rather than textbook learning and a one-size fits all approach. VIOSH accepts people into the Graduate Diploma of Occupational Hazard Management who have no undergraduate degree - on the basis of extensive work experience and knowledge. Year Book produced by the students of the first Intake for Graduate Diploma in Occupational Hazard Management. This was at the Ballarat College of Advanced Education, Mount Helen Campus in 1979-1980. It includes an article printed in The Courier, 29 June 1979 about the visit of American Professor David Klein of Michigan State University. He comments on the quality of the course and high standards of the students. stated there was nothing like this in America. The work took place from October 1979 to May 1980 on the southern boundary of Hubbard Reserve, North Ringwood. The collection was presented to the Ringwood Historical Research Group by J Clarke on 9th June 1980.

Prior to the election of female Councillors and Mayors in the 1960’s, the Lady Mayoress role was one of the few ways women could officially undertake civic duties. Mayoresses made important contributions to their local communities through their charity work and as ambassadors for their region on a state and federal level. They also undertook some Mayoral duties on occasions when their husband was unavailable. Correspondence dated 24 February 1970 - 6 March 1970 concerning an invitation to a Dinner Dance at Government House on 7th April 1970 in honour of The Prince of Wales and The Princess Anne, hosted by Miss Frances Anne Delacombe. Derek Woolley and Derek Viner (Engineering) plus J W Snow (Statistics and Mathematical Modelling) from Ballarat College of Advanced Education were among the speakers.Gloss paper with red writing.
