The black tank suits were first issued to members of 8/13 VMR in 1959 and were worn till late 1960s when they were replaced by a similar garment coloured green. The one piece purpose designed overall was a welcome replacement for the khaki drill trousers and jacket which had been worn by crewmen since 1948. This holster was copied by the Canadians from the British Pattern 1937 web equipment designed to hold the British .38 Calibre Enfield No.2 Mk 1 Revolver. Canada produced its own P37 webbing during WW2 and commenced production in 1940. Two companies produce the vast majority - Z L & T Ltd in Guelph, Ontario and M S & U Ltd (Montreal Suspender and Umbrella Manufacturing Company Limited) in Montreal, Quebec. A great deal of webbing was sent to Australia. These pistol cases saw much use by our troops during WW2 and holstered US Smith & Wesson 'Victory' model and various British Webley .38 revolvers in addition to Enfields.Khaki cotton webbing holster with press studded flap for a .38 calibre revolver. Webbing sleeve on interior for the cleaning rod and three brass hooks on the rear, two to allow attachment to a P37 web belt plus a top hook to permit attachment of a P37 web ammunition pouch. Members of the Women’s Royal Australian Army Corps (WRAAC) were posted to Army Reserve units in the 1980s and 1990s. They were rarely posted to Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) but were invaluable in the A1 Echelon driving fuel, ammunition, ration and water supply vehicles. The bottom of the pouch area has eyelets, the wide 10.5 cms buckles are of brass. The exposed belt section is 5 cms wide. One of the pouches has “US” stamped onto it. Because of their Chinese ethnicity, the Nung were not considered to be Vietnamese citizens. Therefore, they could not be conscripted into the South Vietnamese army (ARVN). So, they hired themselves out as mercenaries, guns for hire, to the US military. Half-body image of Nung mercenary CIDG soldier carrying rifle over his right shoulder and a full backpack. Two alloy ammunition cartridges from a 30mm DEFA (Direction des Études et Fabrications d'Armement) revolving gun used in aircraft. According to the markings on these cartridges, they were manufactured by the Munitions Factory in Footscray Vic. in June 1971. They were most likely used in the guns of the Mirage aircraft of the RAAF. 30-550-DEFA, 6MF71, FR on base. 30-550-DEFA AP 5401MEM and some illegible marks on the side. -

Leslie Pryde enlisted in the AIF 2.8.15 in Divisional Ammunition Column 1 reinforcement 14 age 28 years. Embarked for Egypt 28.1.1916, transfers to 13th FAB 16.4.1916, embarks for France 16.6.1916, promoted to Cpl 7.6.1917, hospital with Trench Fever 12.12.1917, return to unit 30.12.1917, promoted to Sgt 26.1.1918, discharged from the AIF on 7.4.1919. Leslie Pryde was awarded the Military Medal on 15.10.1917 East of Westhoek serving in the 49th Battery. The citation is quite long but the main part is the following; During heavy shelling one of their ammunition dumps was hit and caught fire, Pryde and another NCO at great risk pulled rounds away from the fire area likely to explode and extinguished the fire saving 600 out of 1000 rounds, 400 had exploded.Medal set, court mounted, set of (3) re L Pryde. 1 Military medal, replica not engraved. 2 War medal 1914-1918, replica not engraved. 3 Victory Medal 1914 - 19 3. Denis Gibbons (1937 – 2011) Trained with the Australian Army, before travelling to Vietnam in January 1966, Denis stayed with the 1st Australian Task Force in Nui Dat working as a photographer. For almost five years Gibbons toured with nine Australian infantry battalions, posting compelling war images from within many combat zones before being flown out in late November 1970 after sustaining injuries.
