Two page letter to Mr. R. H. S. Abbott from the Managing Director of Scalebuoys (New Zealand) Limited. (Signature illegible). Dated 25 September, 1936. Letter typed in blue with red underline on paper with printed letterhead. It has a green scalebuoy with Scalebuoys (New Zealand) Limited printed across it. The letter mentions that goods were consigned by Hardley's per the S. S. 'Aorangi'. He is also asking if any Scalebuoys have been used in connection with Sewerage Works. Three letters in an envelope. The first from the Australian Broadcasting Commission dated 2nd February, 1954 requesting Misses Gertrude Perry and Valda Young to attend Broadcast House at 11.30 am on Wednesday, February 17th, 1954 for an audition. The second also from the ABC dated March 4th, 1954 advising Miss Perry that the test was successful and that her name was added to their list of artists for future engagement. A sick voice asked for the Dogtor's help in the main street of Ghostville, the old mining town across Dry Gulch Gully, now a ghost town. On November 25, 2005, a time capsule was buried at Vision Australia's head office in Kooyong. As part of the contents, these interviews were put on CD and placed inside the capsule. The capsule is designated to be opened in 2066, to celebrate 200 years of providing services to people who are blind or vision impaired. Letter dated August 17th, 1921 from David Langlands Chair of the Sailors and Soldiers Memorial Hall Committee, Wangaratta Branch advising the work has been completed and the memorial tablets and stone in commemoration of those that gave their lives and those who served from the town and district have been erected within the Hall however a further 150 pounds was required to complete the payment and asking for aid in this matter. Situated at the eastern end of York Street, Eltham, 'Shinrone', the former home of Professor William (Mac) MacMahon Ball was one of the first in the Shire of Eltham to incorporate mud-brick. Professor MacMahon Ball, a political scientist, writer, broadcaster and diplomat and family moved to York Street, Eltham in 1945 into a timber cottage built around the 1890s and in poor repair. Mac asked Alistair Knox to renovate the home and he expanded the living area and added verandahs. In 1948 Montsalvat artist and sculptor Sonia Skipper supervised the building of most of the mud-brick studio. Neighbour Gordon Ford made the mud-bricks. Mac also asked John Harcourt, who had worked with him as a journalist in shortwave broadcasting, to build a pise (rammed earth) and stone addition to the largely timber house. Harcourt built two bedrooms - including an attic bedroom - a balcony with a shower and toilet, and a fireplace and chimney of local stone. These 'swaggies' often had regular, seasonal 'runs' which they would follow, returning to the same hamlets and farms at the same time every year to ask for minor chores in order to earn a meal or to obtain some flour, tea and sugar. The Norman Oliver collection. Norman Oliver was three times Mayor of Bendigo - 1950-51, 1964-65, 1970-71. Two copies of seven pages of typed notes for a campaign speech in the Victorian state election 1955. Oliver was standing as a Country Party candidate for a seat in the Legislative Assembly. This speech appears to have been given on 3BO as it begins 'Good afternoon, listeners ..'and asks for their vote 'next Saturday'. He replies to criticism that he is anti-working class, his education plans for Bendigo, agricultural science and trade, Bendigo's housing shortage, road policies, drainage issues with the Bendigo Creek. Significant, one of the earliest details of the Red Cross Society in WW1 Very significant, very rare.Paper poster, headed Red Cross Society. Asking for interested citizen in the Camberwell/Canterbury area to form committees to raise 600 pounds to buy a fitted out Motor Ambulance to send over to France as part of the war effort. In October 1914 not one motor Ambulance was on the French front as the War office had banned any Red Cross involvement with wounded soldiers. Once General Kitchener was made aware of this situation he immediately overruled the ban and 100 motor ambulances and 1000 Nurses were sent to France. This fund raising by Camberwell Residents for a Motor Ambulance to be sent to France would have been among the first in WW1.See photo for complete details

Ken McInness, convenor of the Friends of Mullum Mullum Valley was angered by this happening, but the Council's manager of Engineering Services, John Trevorah, said the tree had been earmarked for removal at the start of the project.The President of the Ringwood Bowling Club, Maurice Boyd, said it was "an extremely dirty gum tree and that he'd asked the council to remove it. No permit was required.

The Flying Dogtor, helping solve the mystery of a monster or sea serpent that was wandering the lakes and tunnels of the Snowy Mountains Scheme, noticed strange things happening: a speedboat driven by a snakey-looking person and a lookout tower operated by spiders, it seemed... Later, a plan to trap the serpent in an underground tunnel was arranged by The Flying Dogtor.
