Document - Alexander F Cameron Letters of Administration 1887, 1887
This document concerns the estate of Alexander Florida Cameron, a seedsman from Melbourne in the firm of Grant and Cameron of 41 Bourke Street West, Melbourne. He died intestate in 1887 and left real estate to the value of £263 and personal estate to the value of £4744. This estate was to be administered by his son, Richard Ross Cameron. Tait collection: item 8 of 62This document has no apparent local significance and is of interest only as an example of the Letters of Administration issued in the 1880s. This is a piece of cream parchment with ruled black lines and the lower edge folded back with a seal of the Supreme Court of the Colony of Victoria attached to the document by a black ribbon. The document contains handwritten material in black ink and a blue stamp from the Revenue and Pay Office and a red stamp from the Master in Equity of the Supreme Court. Robert (later Sir Robert) Menzies was the member for Kooyong from 1934 to 66, and Australian Prime Minister from 1939 to 41, and again from 1949 to 66. The City of Kew was within the boundaries of his electorate. Civic events, before the opening of the new Kew City Hall in 1960 were frequently held at the Kew Recreation Hall (demolished 1960) in Wellington Street.The Arthur Dear Collection is a comprehensive collection of theatrical ephemera relating to performances by theatrical and musical organisations from within and outside the former City of Kew who typically performed at venues in Kew during the 1950s and 1960s.Card formally acknowledging the acceptance of an invitation to an event in the Kew Recreation Hall. Pioneer, Anne Currie and her husband John helped open up the area we now know as Lardner or the Drouin area. Anne Currie kept a diary more like a day book of her family's activities throughout their lives. The Diaries were commenced by John on 8th March 1813, but on 28 September of that year there is an entry 'John Currie has tired of keeping a Diary and has handed it over to me - C. Currie' The diary continued with a few breaks right up lo 19162807.11a Photocopy of Catherine and John Currie, photograhped in Melbourne by the famous J.P.Lind prior to journeying to Lardner in November 1875.
