Maree and Marcus of 63 Station Street married after several years of living together. As she is a fashion designer, she designed and made all costumes; as he is a musician, some of his friends played jazz and rock for the procession to the Port Melbourne Yacht Club for the ceremony. Only three neighbours (including photographer) were invited to accompany the procession. Cigarette or Rolling papers are small sheets, rolls, or leaves of pre-cut paper made from wood pulp, hemp, flax, or rice straw which are sold for rolling cigarettes either by hand or with a rolling machine. When rolling a cigarette, one fills the rolling paper with tobacco. PROV - The West Richmond heritage overlay - The smaller former Australian Automatic Cigarette Paper Company factory at no.103-05 Hoddle Street Richmond, also retains original Moderne detailing, which includes 'Boomerang' in Art Deco script set vertically within the piers at either end of the building. 'Boomerang' was the brand of the cigarette papers manufactured by the company until 1948. Item 2526, page 10, titled "Melbourne's First Tramcars" - noting that the Argus of 11/3/1962 reported that two of Mr. George Francis Train's patent tramcars had been landed in Melbourne with fittings for four more. Item said that promoters were negotiating with the City Council, but these fell through, as Council did not have the power to lease the streets for railway purposes. This directory for 1946 came from th archives of the Warrnambool Standard newspaper. This book will be of considerable use to researchers and those wanting family information regarding Victorian and Canberra residents and their addresses in the 1940s. This is a directory of 2416 pages. The front and back covers and the spine binding are missing. In 1990 City Librarian Wendy MORRIS commissioned Pat GRAINGER to co-ordinate a State and Council funded oral history project, the final product of which was a book printed in time for the 1992 Port Melbourne Festival. James Hobson Aveling (1828-1898) invented this type of forceps. They are made from steel with an ebony handle. Obstetrical forceps gripped a baby’s head to help delivery during difficult childbirths. Aveling thought a curved handle rather than a straight one would improve grip and make the forceps easier to insert into the body. However, his idea did not work well and the forceps were not widely used. Aveling also promoted the use of chloroform during childbirth.Set of Aveling style forceps, consisting of two plated metal blades with ebony handles.
