Copy of photo: image shows small aeroplane, in front of brick residence. Written on sheet: 'a small aeroplane of 'rare design' built up in the loft above the stables barn at the rear of the old Girton College, now part of the new Girton assembly hall. The builder was a Mr. Alan Manare - a boarder at 'Craigmore' As far as I can remember the aircraft made only a few short flights. I never heard of its eventual fate. A photocopy of a petition presented to the Honorable the Legislative Assembly of Victoria by Chinese Storekeepers appeling for the removal of clause four of the "Act to make provision for certain immigrants". This clause imposed a tax of 10 pounds on every immigrant arriving. The petition was signed by 5186 people.document -

Handwritten notes on a talk on Mining in Bendigo. Notes are about the Regulation of Mines Act, Jan 1st, 1874. This bill was introduced in the Legislative Assembly on October 16th 1873, by Bendigo's (Sandhurst) Minister for Mines, Angus Mackay and became law on January 1st, 1874. This act made a lot of changes regarding safety in the mines. Some of the mine-owners were not pleased. Bendigo Advertiser "The way we were" from Monday, February 28, 2005. Heyday: the surface view of the test shaft, plant and poppet legs of the government shaft at Fosterville (October 1900-April 1903). A pumping plant and winch were purchased from the Tyson's Reef Mine for 900 pounds and removal and assembly cost 723 pounds. Arrangements were also made with the North Stewart Company for the loan of poppet legs, the steam winch engine and buildings. Twenty one pages of typed speech notes for 'my policy speech on the occasion of this 1955 election for the Legislative Assembly of the State of Victoria'. Corrections and additions in black ink.
