Block mounted photograph of the ESCo Employees Tramway Picnic 24.1.1926. Photograph is of the workers and families standing in front of seven buses or trucks, possibly at Moorabool Reservoir. On the left hand side is a truck with a ladder on the side, sign written to show it belongs to the Electric Supply Co. of Victoria. The black and white photograph has been mounted on to a heavy cardboard grey coloured with dark grey bands around the photograph and the edge of the mounting. Ephemera - Ticket/s, Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society (BTPS), Book of 10 All Day Tickets - BTPS, 1975
Book of 10 All Day Tickets, numbered A000001 to A000010 printed for the Ballarat Tourist Tramway, contained within an off white front heavy paper (front cover) and off white card back cover sheet, with a two staples on the left hand side. Each ticket is from a light yellow card stock, printed with green ink showing the month of issue on the sides and date of issue (1 to 31) on the top or bottom. Each ticket is numbered and has a perforated left edge to enable it to be torn from the book. Ticket punched by the conductor to shown the month and date of issue. On all tickets, just to the under the staple is a vertical heavy green band. Used from late 1975 until March 1986. Item collected for archives on at time of issue. Collected for Archives 30/6/2004. Uniform - Cap, Commonwealth Government Clothing Factories Melbourne, 1960's
Demonstrates uniform cap manufacture, badge and has a strong association with a former Ballarat Driver - Jock Menzies.SEC Motorman/Drivers/Conductors cap - green cloth exterior, grey cotton interior lining, brown leather internal hat band, black cotton hat band on exterior with a plastic band at the front half of the cap terminating in two small SEC metal buttons on either side, black plastic peak fitted with cap or badge No. 60, nickel plated silver, in the centre of the cap above the hat band. Piece of sheet steel, enamelled with red, white and black paint for use at tram stops. Small red band at top, white band with letters CARS STOP HERE and large red band underneath, on both sides to indicate to drivers a compulsory stop- That is all tram to stop at the location. Demonstrates how armatures movements (tram motors) were recorded at the SEC depot in Ballarat.Sign - made from three ply (wood) board, originally painted with black board paint and white lined and lettered for Armatures / Tram / possibly date in or out. The slits ...Has a strong association with the uniforms and caps of the SEC tramway crews, yields information about their manufacture.Plastic strip, or chin strap cut from a premanufactured strip, with slots at either end, a buckle, a loop and two small rivets to be used as a cap band for the SEC tramway crew caps. The slits at either end were fitted over the cap buttons (See Reg Item 4452) Possibly made by the Australian Government clothing factory. Photo of Geelong No. 12 at the Geelong depot July 1915, decorated and used by the National Defence Association as a recruiting tram. Has many lights and flags on the tram and the words "Come on Geelong" on the sides. See Inscriptions for further details. No details as to photographer or source. On rear in pencil "National Defence Association Recruiting car. This contained a brass band which played along the various routes. A speaker travelled with the car. Inspectors/Conductors cap - black cloth exterior, with a blue band on the edge red cotton interior lining, brown leather internal hat band, black plastic peak on the outside, green fabric on the inside. Note no holes in the side of the cap for the SEC cap band, but there are two holes in the top peak for a number or a badge. May not be an SEC cap, but the black decorative binding is the same as in the SEC Inspectors cap.
