These blank books, a Ledger and two Cash Books were used by the United Berry Growers Association of Victoria to record the account details for Cash and Contra entries. Contra entries represent the deposits or withdrawals of cash from bank or vice versa. Contra indicates transactions that affect both cash and bank.A large green cloth paper wavy patterned covered Norman Bros., Leger Book with burgundy tape on the spine. The end papers are blue marbled paper and the edges of the pages are marble coloured.This blank book was used by the United Berry Growers Association of Victoria as written on the front cover in copperplate writing. Inside the book on page A are three brief entries indicating which pages to see detailed accounts. Throughout the rest of the book various expenditures are listed, for example on pp. 71 and 72 is a list of General Expenses A/c. The Leger was used as a Statement of Accounts including Printing and Stationery and for other statements too. There are also two Cash Books, one with green wavy patterned covers and one with black paper hardcovers. Both have CASH BOOK stickers on the front with the name United Berry Growers Association of Victoria on one and the other has the initials U.B.G.A written in copperplate black ink. Dates from August 1934 to December 193k7. Inserted in pages of gold book: a. receipts " Commercial Banking Company of Sydney (Bendigo) recording the particulars of gold melted and assayed on account of South Frederick the Great Co. N.L. and slips from Royal Mint, Melbourne Branch, showing out turn of deposits left for coinage. 1579.1 - Bound specification - 20 sheets - stapled within brown paper covers and sealed with black tape on the left hand side. Titled "Hawthorn Tramways Trust Specification of Car Bodies Contract No. 12". Gives the General conditions of the contract, specifications and forms for tendering. Prepared by McCarty Underwood & Co. Consulting Engineers 31 Queen St Melbourne. Contains completed tender forms, prices and some minor initialled alterations to the tender. The document is the HTT or Trusts copy of the tender and it has been signed by Duncan and Fraser and the HTT and on the rear sheet has the seal of the Trust. Gives prices and dates for delivery of 10 bogie and 9 combination (4 wheel) tramcar bodies. .2 - letter - typed on quarto paper - from Duncan & Fraser dated 13/4/1915 - advising that they had posted their tender document and questioning the type of "Ash" timber to be used. Has been endorsed on the left hand margin as item G referred to in the tender document. .3 - letter - typed on quarto paper - from Duncan & Fraser dated 13/4/1915 - advising that they had instructed the National Bank of Australasia to hand you the fixed deposit, but it had been sent to Adelaide in error. Letter enclosed the deposit receipt. .4 - Receipt on pre-printed receipt paper with a South Australian Government duty stamped impressed into the paper on the right hand edge, with an adhesive strip on the rear of the left hand side.
