The blubber fork was used to transfer sliced pieces of blubber, called "bible leaves", into the try pots for rendering or boiling it into oil. Bible leaves were thrown into the trypots with a blubber fork or blubber pike and heated until the whale oil tried out from them, much like the grease coming from bacon as it cooks. Brendon Kurtze believed it was from the 'Constant', but the wreck was later proven to be the 'Regia' by V.A.S.Wooden painted figurehead believed to be from the barque 'Regia' (built 1835). Painted white female with floral wreath in hair, holding a scroll in both hands, sash over right shoulder, diamond-shaped object on ribbon around neck, beaded necklace, dress with puffed short sleeves, bare arms, hair set in curls and a bun on the back of head. Figurehead is torso only. Inspection suggests that it has been cut from the wreck or from the rest of the figurehead's body.Front: (no inscriptions) Back: (no inscriptions) -

The brand name later replaced the name of the parent company that manufactured the branded products. The brand featured a logo image of a young woman, dressed in a red one-piece swimsuit and bathing hat, assuming a diving posture with outstretched arms and an arched back. Known as the Jantzen "Diving Girl", the image in various forms became famous throughout the world during the early twentieth century. (Wikipedia). .Black men's woollen swimming trunks made by Jantzen. Inside label - "Jantzen" (red print), "Made in Australia" (faint green print). The trunks have a bone coloured cotton belt threaded through tabs at the waist. A silver coloured buckle has "Rustless" imprinted. Late 1940s.
