Wal Jack had an extensive range of correspondents throughout Australia and the world who often prepared extensive notes and records for him. This letter from Peter Duckett, the owner and proprietor of the Model Dockyard, dated 8/3/1955 discusses the water tank on the Ballarat ESCo sprinkler tram and its disposal history, First sold to a Mr Colters of Forest St and then sold to a lady in Invermay. Also compares the Ballarat tank to that of Bendigo. The last page has a an extract from page 97 of the June 1983 issue of ET giving a bus fleeing location of the MMTB and notes on Private Bus companies and services. Has been photocopied onto A4 sheets - and published as a supplement to E.T 6/83. Handwritten copy of a MMTB circular titled "Rolling stock requirements cable system - particular requirements during and after conversion of the Brunswick cable line". Gives depot name, present requirement, requirement when Brunswick service is cut back to Victoria St, Lonsdale St, when complete to Moreland Rd and cars in stock on 24/8/1935. Gives service requirement, spares and totals. Second sheet lists tramcar requirements, disposal notes and bogies car to be retained for sale. Newspaper cutting from the Lilydale and Yarra Valley Express 11-8-1981 - "New life for old tram" about the acquisition of off loading of W2 227 at the Phil McDonald's brickworks in Melba Ave Lilydale. See also Reg item 1644 for an item about its derailment in Footscray on 3/8/1981, but the tramcar cards show that the tram was withdrawn and sold during July 1981. Cutting has the Aust. The two trams originally built for the North Melbourne Electric Tramways and Lighting Co. without windscreens. Both trams have had their trolley poles removed and the bodies are awaiting disposal. The three photos show the smaller four wheel type trams that were used on the Footscray routes that closed in March 1962. The bodies were subsequently sold. X1 465 July 1962, X2 679 - March 1963 and X2 680 is now preserved at the TMSV Bylands Tramway Heritage centre.
