This service was to dedicate a Memorial to Australian & British Servicemen who died at Sandakan and Ranau, North Borneo 1942 - 1945. It was unveiled at Strathdale Park Bendigo on 9.4.1995. The Official Party were; Mr Peter Ross Edwards AM, Chief Commissioner The City of Greater Bendigo, Mr J.S. Millner AM, Chairman The Sandakan Memorial Foundation. The Requiem was read by Father John Brendan Rogers OFM. Unveiling the Memorial by, Mr Peter Ross Edwards AM. Dedication of the Memorial by; Father John Brendan Rogers OFM, Chaplain 8th Division Sandakan and Kuching, Chaplain Gary Kenney, Australian Army. Laying of the wreaths, Wreath Marshalls supplied by Bendigo RSL Sub Branch, Australian Army Band Melbourne. The ODE was read by; President Bendigo RSL Mr Cliff Clohesy. The volume contains some 68 issues of the MMTB Tramway Topics from 1941 to 1950. Some issues have been typed rather than printed. Possibly copy-typed from the originals to make up a complete set. Finishes soon after the appointment of Mr Risson as Chairman. Provides observations, stories, news and information about the MMTB activities, and news from other tramway systems and buses. Also includes notes on the PCC car, wartime work, and why trams are better than buses.Yields information about the war time activities of the MMTB during the second world war and to 1950.Digital image of a book or bound volume of a set of 68 magazines published by the MMTB 1941 to 1950. It is very likely that this is a painting that was presented to John 'Jack' Courier (1915-2007), who turned 80 in 1995. Courier left a bequest to the College consisting of a significant number of artworks by himself and others, including works by Peter Jacobs.Mixed media artwork, using acrylic and watercolours. Painting appears to be an abstract head and shoulders portrait of a figure, possibly a man. The figure is facing towards the right of the painting, with mouth open - the head of the figure takes up the majority of the space in the painting. The figure appears to be holding something in their right hand, which is raised. There are four semicircular shapes along the bottom edge of the painting which the figure is depicted behind. Handwritten text at the bottom of the painting reads 'Happy 80th Jack/ Jacobs '95'. The image is mounted and framed in a grey wooden frame, behind glass. There are four small auction house stickers stuck to the back of the frame. A stamp for Separation Creek Valley Productions appears at bottom centre of the back of the frame. A cord has been stapled to the back of the frame at upper centre for hanging. D-rings and a wire have also been attached for hanging at the top of the back of the frame.
