This item was originally acquired by Harold Bakes, together with a Fire Hydrant Stand And a petrol pump , from the P.M.G. depot in Hawthorn in the 1970s . It was stored in the City of Nunawading Council yard in Station Street, Nunawading, and later loaned to the Australia Post Mail Exchange in Rooks Road, Nunawading. On the closure of the Mail Exchange, it was transferred to the Australia Post Museum in Dandenong. Collection of thirty-nine postcards donated by Jillian Rigby which had been owned by her grandparents, George and Edith Weir, who from c.1917 lived at 84 Princess Street, Kew. The mostly 'mint' postcards were purchased in Victoria and while travelling overseas. The sole dated postcard is dated from 1929. The postcards are numbered sequentially from 2017.0058.01-39. The remainder of the collection donated by Jill Rigby which was once owned by the Weirs of Broken Hill and Kew consist of costumes, costume accessories, photographs, and documents.The postcards in the Weir collection, especially those purchased on a trip or trips to the mother country, i.e. United Kingdom, represent a representative sample of sites that were considered significant to those Australians undertaking a reverse grand tour by member of the erstwhile colonies. Litherland was born in Odessa in 1897 and arrived in Creswick in 1938, where he lived until his death in 1978. This painting and 65 others were bequeathed to the town by him.This painting records the life of the town of Creswick at a moment of time, in the naive style. Litherland became a character about town and a noted artist. This coin was issued to commemorate the centenary of Federation in Australia in 2001. The six Australian States were federated into the Commonwealth of Australia in January 1901 after several years of campaigning and planning. The first Prime Minister was Edmund Barton and the first Federal Parliament was held in Melbourne and continued to be held in Melbourne until the establishment of the Australian capital at Canberra in 1927. Dr Paul Hemming joined the university council in 2007 and was appointed Chancellor in 2012, when he was also appointed chair of the Federation University Australia Foundation. He retired as Chancellor in October 2018.
