Murray MEAD Artist's Statement: Impression attracts me due to its potential for presenting how one person ses one particular part of the world at one particular time in exquisite stylizaton and character. My works explore the nature of the 'individual' and how we perceive others and are in turn, seen ourselves in a given instant in time. I circumvent the tendency of individuals to adopt masks ab when confronted by cameras. I wnt to capture a fleeting moment in paint when that facde is momentarily breahed. I like the fact tht painting is a laborius medium that allows me to utterly stylize the image. In an otherwide realistic caricature I focus on capturing and coveying the subject's unrehearsed and elicited expression and emotion. My works are of individualistic responses from those who view them. Sonia PAYES (1956- ) Born Melbourne, Victoria Sonia Page is a conceptually-based artist Australian artist working with photography, multi-media, animation and sculpture. She continually pushes the boundaries between photography, sculptural work and new media, with a strong environmental narrative permeating her work. A large photographic tryptich depicting the studio of prominent Australian artist Jeffrey Smart. Sonia Payes art practice is grounded in her training as a photographer. In 2005 Sonia Payes started a large project involving photographing artist's portraits, art works and surrounds. Depicting the idiosyncratic, and often private, lives of artists the project resulted in a visual book titled ‘Untitled. Kristin McFARLANE An Australian artist who combines graphic design, glass, botanical specimens, photography, encaustic painting, print and typography to explore fragility, nature and beauty. Kristin studied graphic design followed by a Graduate Diploma and Master of Fine Arts in glass at Monash University, Melbourne. Since graduating in 2004 she has undertaken public and private commissions and exhibitions including works for the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Monash University and Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan. Kristin designed and created the trophies for the Australian of The Year Awards from 2005-2014. These glass panels celebrate the history of the Monash University site; its early days as Berwick showgrounds and Casey Arifield to its current use as a state of the art educational centre.
