Used by donor in 'Blackburn - a picturesque history'. Dud Prior commenced his first business with ten gold sovereigns. He was born in Nicholson Street Nunawading in 1889 and in 1917 he opened his first shop in Blackburn near the roundabout. "The Little Zoo in the Gardens" booklet. Henry Ben Jahn was the benefactor behind the establishment of the Ballarat Zoological Gardens. He died 28 December, 1911 and the zoo was opened on 17 April, 1917 and closed 1957. The illustrations in this book are attributed to EULALIE. Eulalie ( Eulalie M. (Eulalie Minfred Banks), 1895-1999) was born in London and illustrated more than 50 children's books as well as cards, calendars and even murals. She died at 104 and was still painting into her 90's. Margaret Teresa (Mag) Gorman, 1904-1997, was a daughter of Timothy Gorman and his wife Mary (née Scolari). She was a noted card player and enjoyed fine crochet work. She never married, instead devoting much of her life to looking after her mother. Mag's sister Lily Eileen Gorman was born in 1896 and died in 1975, age 79.Black and white copy of original photograph, which shows two young women dressed in coats and hats sitting on an outdoor bench.
