Negative (120) of a cable tram grip car and saloon car 565 outside the Nicholson St Winding house tram stop, with several passengers walking from the tram, the conductor attending to the "dolly" for the Gertrude Street cable so the gripmen can line it up with grip and the grip man looking down. In the image are adverts for Col. W. de Basil's Covent Garden show at Her Majesty's Theatre, Fosters Lager, Hoyts De Luxe Bourke St a Richard Greene film. Postcard produced by the Valentine publishing company of Moorabool St looking north at the corner of Ryrie St. Tram No. 33 is picking up passengers at the safety zone at the intersection with Ryrie St where the front of another bogie tram can be seen. In the view are the T&G building, the Bank of NSW which has a chemist shop, and the Savoia cafe. The rear of the card notes it is a genuine photograph. The card number V24 is the same number used in item 9064, but a later version, the early 1950s. The note on the rear of the card gives details of Ken's Victorian trip during Jan 1954.Yields information about the view of Moorabool St at Ryrie St early 1950s.Black and white Postcard undivided back, unused. Has a strong association with tram crews and the ticket / revenue collection system. Would have secured the tickets etc - one key with the crew members and the other with the revenue office.Padlock with hasp - from riveted steel sheets laminated together with two keys on a steel key ring - Master Lock Co. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. Lock No. 14, keyed for keys P676. Lock Number and key number stamped on the base of the lock. Each key has the number stamped onto it and the name and symbol of the Master Lock Co. Mr R E Jackman was the MMTB's Superintendent (Engineer) representing the Board in Adelaide for both the Holden contract and the contract with Perry Engineering for bogies or trucks for the W-class tram. Shows the tram basically complete on temporary dollies. Yields information about the reconstruction of the depot trackwork during 1935/1936 and the condition of the rails, types of rails and methodsSet of 5 Black and white photo prints from collected negatives of the relaying of the depot fan at the SEC Ballarat depot building, during refurbishment by the SEC during 1935 or 1936. 1351.1 - Wendouree Parade depot junction, track - relaying the 2nd set of points. One track was still useable at the time. Note fences and tools lying around the work area. 1351.2 - laying out the trackwork for two and three roads, note machines and cylinders in background. 1351.3 - looking along No. 2 road out of the depot doors, not connected, possibly taken some time after 1351.2, as the area appears to be cleaned up. 1351.4 - Photo showing the various rail weights for possibly the western rail on No. 3 road and how the fishplates were at the time of the photograph. Not known whether this was the final arrangement, taken looking towards the depot building. 1351.5 - ditto but from the other end - note the damaged flangeway on the depot end rail - horse tram rail?
