Album comprises heavy cardboard covers with brown Rexene covers, with inside papers of heavy dark grey photo album paper, 36 leaves of dark grey photo paper and two brass interscrews within black grommets. See Condition Details re damage to back cover. Album contains 32 photos - personal prints of Keith Kings. Title page has been hand written to Les Denmead, dated 6/7/1970, thanking Mr. Denmead for his assistance over the years. Photos divided into the three SEC Provincial Tramway cities, each with a typed name proceeding the set of photos. Two further photos of Geelong were at the rear of the album, but were not in position when catalogued. One of these photos may be Reg. Item 1874 - photo of Geelong scrubber tram. Each of the photographs have been separately registered, as shown in the table below. Scanned images made of front and back of the photos. Set of 5 documents for the "Farewell to Bendigo Trams" tour conducted by the ARHS Vic Div and the TMSV, first scheduled for Sat. 12/2/1972, but delayed to Sat. 4/3/1972 due to SECV Power restrictions on the day. 3277.1 - documents 1 to 3 stapled in top left hand corner. 1. Tour circular, printed on pink paper with a photo of No. 28 at Golden Square terminus. Has logos of ARHS Vic Div and TMSV, part missing - used for booking. Gives details of the purpose of the tour, approx. times, refreshments, a booklet and fares. Organiser Victor Isaacs and Neil Morrow Booking Officer. Printed on foolscap paper in landscape format 2. Victorian Railways S Circular, or special train notice, S.224/72, single page giving train schedules, loads, motive power, carriage numbers and tickets. Signed by J.C. Crute as Chief Traffic Manager. Dated 19/1/1972. Printed on foolscap paper. 3. Ticket circular printed on quarto paper giving times of departure and arrival back, noting its express run to Melbourne. 3277.2 - documents 4 to 5, stapled in top left hand corner. 4. Set of two sheets, one printed on foolscap card paper, the other on foolscap paper, giving a graph of the tram workings, showing the special trams (tours A and B) overlain with the Saturday timetable. Dated 4/3/1972. 5. Victorian Railways S Circular, or special train notice, S.435/72, single page giving train schedules, loads, motive power, carriage numbers and tickets. Signed by J.C. Crute as Chief Traffic Manager. Dated 11/2/1972. Printed on foolscap paper. Noted that the special train of 12/2/1972 is cancelled "Due to SECV Restrictions". Has return train timetabled for 2 hours and five minutes. Photographed in front of Ballarat Tramway Museum Horse Tram No. 1. Featuring John Pennack, David Verrier, Richard Gilbert, Bill Kingsley, John Radcliffe, Ron White, Keith Kings, Bob Cowing, Peter Kahn and Keith Stodden. Functional object - Fare Token/s, Electric Supply Co. of Vic (ESCo), 1913
Two Fare tokens - 1 1/2d - 21mm diameter - light brown celluloid - with "B.E.T." in large capitals on front centre of token and words "Ballarat Electric Tramways 1913" on circumference. On reverse in large font "1 1/2" and a small font "D" at top of the right - indicating token had a value of one and a half pence. For details of use see Reg. Item 1794 and Reg. item 1801.1, 1802. Sixteen page booklet, off white paper, saddle stapled, with additional cream colour paper cover titled "The Australian Tramway Employees' Association with the Electric Supply Coy. of Victoria Limited / Agreement". Dated on cover 1923. Agreement dated 23/11/1923, to 31/3/1925. Applies to both Ballarat and Bendigo. Details hours of work, rates, Sunday runs, casual rates, holidays, free passes, uniforms, training students, meal relief, one-man cars, eyesight tests, dismissals, meals, Board of Reference. Gives schedules for various grades, and a schedule for quarterly adjustment of wages depending on a cost of living index. On rear page - page 16, has the name of "Fremantle Municipal Tramways and Electric Lighting Board" as the name of the respondent - printing error, or heard at the same time. Postcard, Electric Supply Co. of Vic (ESCo), Souvenir ESCo Ticket, 1905
Demonstrates a souvenir item for the opening of the electric tramways in Ballarat in the form of a postcard, one of which has actually been used to send a message. Has a strong association with the people who sent and received the card.608 - Postcard size Souvenir Tram ticket, printed using blue ink on one side with fare, photos of power station, engine room, boiler room and a tram & No.11162 stamped on edge. On reverse side is space for stamp, address etc., - with line & "postcard' etc., printed in red ink. Letter/note to Mino Loveday Hutchins c/o P.O> Queenscliff. No date. Fares given on card are : Mount Pleasant and Orphanage and Grenville St. 3d, or Grenville St. and Tram sheds 3d. Printed in a blue/grey ink of various shades onto a white card. Souvenir 608.1 - as above, numbered 11308, has been punched on lower edge near right hand corner. Has been used as post card to a person in Alexandria?, but rear has been eaten by silverfish or similar. Did have a date stamp of "28-8-0?" See also Reg Item 2488, page 28 for ticket number 1595. Yields information about Ballarat No. 30, in the 1950's - SEC Official photograph.1708 - Black and white photograph of a Ballarat Sebastopol type tramcar when built new in 1913. Photo used in Keith Kings book, "The Ballarat Tramways" on page 28. Understood to be an ESCo photograph. Tram has "Suttons for Gramophones" roof advertisement, words "Ballarat Tramways" on the top rail above windows and "Coliseum Photoplays"in central window. Two of the four side blinds are in the down position, probably done to show their presence. Tram has a "bulls-eye" type destination indicator. Photographed outside the depot with Lake Wendouree in the background. Photograph is a photo of another print, with the words? "Original Rolling Stock" underneath the original print and the black ink "12" in the bottom left hand corner on the newer print. 1708.1 - as above, but without the "12" written on the photograph. Fitzmaurice dated 30-11-1989 - titled "A New Deal for Tram Drivers", one page, regarding the phasing out of the tram conductors and increase in wages. .2 - ditto, dated 2/1/1990, two pages regarding the unauthorised use of a Met vehicle - occurred the previous day. .3 - Letter from Jim Kennan (Minister for Transport) and Neil Pope (Minister for Labour) - dated 4/1/1990, on Victoria Transport Letterhead, giving a guarantee to conductors. .4 - Letter from K. The article and photo report on the poor condition of roads in particular Hayden's Road and the former, short lived Victorian Railways Beaumaris - Black Rock tram line. Has two photos showing the road condition. The second photo shows sleepers from the former tram line and a badly worn road surface that had been placed on top. The item by a staff reporter likens the road to wartime battle fields. Printed by Regent Press Pty Ltd, 457 Plenty Road, Preston. Provides in a Q & A format, instructions to drivers in electric car operation, photos of various types of controllers, an A.B.C. for tramways drivers - "always" points to remember and has a reference index. Copy 1 - has telephone numbers of Training School and specific pointers re Regulations 106 and 107 and some of the Q&A have been circled in blue. This copy was imaged. The May 1974 instructions of "Tram car Braking on Greasy Rails", has adhesive tape remnants. Copy 2 - 1/5/1975 instructions loose inside the book. Copy 3 - added 29/5/2014 from the collection of R. Wearne. Copy 4 - added 15-6-2015 - from Ron Scholten donation of 11-4-2015. Copy 5 - added 14-12-2015 from donation of Norm Cross 11-10-2009. Had the instructions for Tram car braking on Greasy Rails appended inside front cover - loose, with adhesive tape remnants. Relocated to Reg Item 2913.copy 3 has 7 numbers in ink inside the front cover, a number of questions in the book have been circled., copy 4 - has numerous changes to issue on page 1, ink crosses on specific questions., copy 5 - has "K.T. Inside the book - see image 80i4, was a heavy sheet of cardboard headed "Fares Charges from 4/7/76" giving the adult and child fares for each section of travel. Details the various section stages and fares for each tram and bus route, General instructions, concession fares and has photos or drawings of the various special tickets, eg passes or prepaid tickets. Book consists of eight sections, bound with cloth binding on the outside covering internal staples. Second copy added 27-12-2013 ex AETA.
