He joined the police force on 21 June, 1913 and died in Warburton in 1962. He was also known as Clem or 'Catty'. Bendigo Advertiser "The way we were" from 1999. Eaglehawk: this photo is looking south over the Borough of Eaglehawk in 1875. After gold was discovered in Golden Square, it was inevitable prospectors would cut their way through the bush to what is now known as Eaglehawk. The legend says two prospectors in 1852, John Rooke and Joseph Crook, were looking for one of their horses, which had gone astray, when they stopped to rest. Where they stopped they found gold. After three weeks of digging, Crook and Rooke left the area with a massive 48 pounds in gold weight. The Northern District School of Nursing opened in 1950 in to address the issues around nurse recruitment, training and education that had previously been hospital based. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo. Hutchinson (Hanna) on 17.5.1946 in Appreciation and loyalty to Service personnel as a Member of the Eaglehawk Ladies Auxiliary during the War years. The Auxiliaries efforts abled the furnishing of the Club rooms and raise 230.00 Pounds for the Returned Soldiers Distress Fund.
