The bridal headdress was made in England and worn in Ceylon in 1886 by Mary Jane Schroder for her marriage to Ralph Pardy Rudd on 24th Nov 1886.1886 Pearl encrusted bridal tiara. Dress worn by Mary (Molly) Sprunt on marriage to John (Jack) Leith on 12 March 1938 at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Rushworth. Veil was handmade by mother Madge Brydon in 1912 for her wedding. Dress and veil donated by Molly's daughter. Dress also worn by sister - Lyndsay (Lyn) Sprunt for her marriage to George Hendrie on 10 November 1945 at St John's Church Elsternwick. Gown made by Molly and Lyn's aunt Edith Brydon. Veil (NA3495) worn was made by mother Madge Brydon. Donated by Molly's daughter.Cream damask 1938 satin dress. Veil worn by Margary (Madge) Isabelle Brydon. Was later worn by many (about 15) local ladies who lived in the area of Rushworth. Madge's daughters, Molly and Isobel both wore the veil at their weddings in 1938 and 1945. Donor is granddaughter of bride. Veil made by bride and described in the Waranga Basin newspaper at the time. Margary (Madge) Brydon married Edward (Ward) Sprunt at the bride's family home in Carag Carag, Victoria on 10th April 1912. This knitted and crocheted three piece dress was made by Jean Gorsuch in 1960. The wool was purchased from the Treasure House, a wool, toys and childrens clothes shop in Station Street, Mitcham. This was a very fashionable at that time as knitted and crocheted garments were making a comeback. Bridesmaid Dress worn by Joyce Suto (nee Baker) ( a member of the Society) as a bridesmaid at the wedding of her schoolfriend Derri Thomas to Derek Whitfield at Tidenham, Glous, U.K., in April, 1947. Bridesmaid dresses were made of an early kind of nylon with 'cap sleeves' and the material was bought with meagre supply of clothing coupons during postwar clothes rationing. Bridesmaids carried daffodils, irises and pussy-willow. 'Cap sleeves' chosen by the bride were a comparatively new fashion feature and not popular with the bridesmaid. So they all bought enough material for regular sleeves to be added later. The dresses were afterwards worn to dances.Long frock with short (cap) sleeves and a green sash. It refers to fabrics or textiles woven by this process of punch cards, using damask, twill, silk or plain weave,wool. The bedspread (NA2862) and apron were owned by Maria Austin (born 25 August 1867 Buried at Box Hill Cemetery 15 November 1955) and used when she worked as a 'Nanny' in England. Many of the children she cared for kept in touch with her after she came to Australia with her family in 1914. They arrived on Show Day, 1914 on the last ship to leave England before the First World War was declared. She lived at 26 Nelson Road Box Hill now the site of the Box Hill R.S.L. Maria was born 25 August in 18?? and died in 1952 and is buried in the Box Hill Cemetery.
