Jock Read riding 'Popeye' south along Main Road approaching Bridge Street. Jock acquired 'Popeye' just before the outbreak of WW2. As he was already in the Royal Australian Navy, Jock named the horse after Popeye the Sailor Man. Popeye was a dapple grey, then went white as he aged. After much research and photo gathering,(earlier years provided a challenge)this book was published in time for Australia Day celebrations in 2011. A very welcome book for the Wycheproof archives, being a record of many local people - mainly debutantes. Names recorded back to 1938. Social documentation of local youth from 1938 onwards.A glossy 69 page book with debutantes and partners 1938 - 2010. The photos are faithfully reproduced of hundreds of local youths, their trainers and attendants.
