The lantern slides were most probably used at the Ballarat School of Mines. The image of Rome from St Peter's (Vatican) was taken before 1929. The "Via Conciliazione", built by Mussolini in 1929 is not present in the image. Hinged timber box designed to hold glass lantern slides. Axedale is a town in Victoria, Australia. It is located on the McIvor Highway, in the City of Greater Bendigo, east of Bendigo. It was surveyed and proclaimed in 1861. At the 2021 census, Axedale had a population of 984. The town is nestled alongside the Campaspe River which feeds out of Lake Eppalock. It has a golf course, tennis courts, a school, a pub and a convenience store/petrol station. Although Presbyterians held religious services prior to 1854 it, was not till that year that Dr Nish arrived in Bendigo. This envelope was specifically produced for the 75th Anniversary of the Royal Australian Survey Corps. This First Day cover envelope was stamped at the Bonegilla Military Post Office on 29 June 1990 in preparation for the Corps birthday on 1 July. The School of Military Survey was located at Bonegilla Victoria adjacent to Lake Hume reservoir. The envelope was designed by Lynette Brown from the Australia Post Graphic Design Studio utilising illustrations produced by Brian Clinton, Melbourne.Royal Australian Survey Corps 75th Anniversary First Day Cover Envelope.
