These tickets were raising money for the local Warrnambool Sheltered Workshop. The local sheltered workshop provided opportunities for disabled people to work together doing varied tasks. Cable trams operated in Melbourne from 1885 to 1940. Initially by the Melbourne Tramway & Omnibus Co (a private operator) then the "Tramway Board" from 1916 to 1919 until the Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board took over. Originally a block of 100 tickets been stapled onto an off white cardboard back, ruled on one side with a heavy metal staple and a off white coloured cardboard retaining strip at the top of the ticket. The ticket price is in red ink while the ticket number itself and prefix is in black ink. On rear in red ink is a diagonal criss cross or tartan pattern.
