On 4th August 1978 the construction of the Goonawarra Housing Estate commenced. The estate was formerly known as the Goonawarra Farm and overloked the Sunbury town area and Jacksons Creek valley. Plans for the new development included a gold course, housing, community and recreational facilities. Container - Bottle, wine, 1985
The bottle was donated to the Council by Hedley Elliott for an exhibition in the Art Gallery (George Evans Museum). Note that Goonawarra is misspelt on the label.Green glass bottle used for 1975 claret and bottled for the first Sunbury Fair. The label is printed in brown and cream and features a sketch of the Goonawarra Winery and surrounding area. There is a brief statement on the back about the winery and the background to production of the wine. On the back is a hand-written label, stuck on with clear tape giving an account of the origin of the bottle of wine, its donor and storage instructions. It has a black metal cap and miscellaneous markings on the flat bottom."Sunbury Fair / Goonawarra Vineyard (above) was established / in Sunbury in 1858 by the / Hon. J. G. Francis, former Premier of Victoria. / This 1975 Claret from the Stanley Wine Co. / was bottled by Emerald Wines especially / for the Sunbury Fair / WINE PRODUCED IN AUSTRALIA F100 750ml". Leather Helmet WW2 RAAF - Trainee Pilot Francis Robertson, circa 1940-1945
Circa WW2 1940 - 1945. Used for RAAF Trainee pilots for Wirraway and Tiger Moth training. This helmet belonged to Francis Robertson, trainee RAAF Pilot who crashed his aircraft into Nurse Carter's residence at Chiltern (May 30th, 1943) whilst on a training flight from Advanced Training Squadron Deniliquin NSW. The Helmet is associated with Francis Robertson WW2 RAAF Pilot, trained at Number 7 Flying School Deniliquin NSW. Khaki Canvas and metal helmet used in WW2 circa 1943 for trainee pilots of Wirrway's and Tiger moths. Made of sturdy heavy duty canvas with some metal underlay, leather and sheepskin straps, brass attachment buckles. Equipment - RAAF Leather Flying Goggles - Francis Robertson WW2 Pilot, WW2 Circa 1940
These goggles belonged to RAAF Pilot Francis Robertson who crash landed his trainee solo flight tiger moth into Nurse Carters home at Chiltern in 1943. Pilot Officer Robertson then went on to serve in New Guinea whilst flying Tiger Moths and Wirraways. WW2 significance with Francis Robertson having served in the New Guinea Campaign, flying Tiger Moths and Wirraways. Francis Robertson was also the trainee pilot who crashed his plane into Nurse Carter's residence at Chiltern in 1943. Leather and perspex flying goggles belonging to RAAF Pilot Francis Robertson WW1. WW2 Circa - Leather Overnight Case : RAAF Pilot Francis (Frank) Robertson
The case belonged to WW2 RAAF Pilot Francis (Frank) Robertson. The case was used to store his pilot equipment (goggles, flying hat) and set of uniforms. 1940's era leather overnight carry case. Belonged to RAAF pilot Frank Robertson. Leather hard mid brown coloured overnight carry case, brass keyholes, leather restraining straps on the inside of the lid. The internal material lining appears to be of strong cotton weave and is strped in colours of light tan, white and fawn. There is no identifying make or brand on the case.
