Yellow soft covered book containing Melbourne street scene sketches, photographs, and recollections contributed in 2021 by former pupils of Ringwood High School as a tribute to their well remembered art teacher, Harry Hudson (1910-1974). This is a Rose's Australia stereocard of Morningside. Built c1875, Morningside was the residence of John and Catherine D'Alton, it was located on site of present (2010) Colonial Motor Inn. c1900 it was owned by Langley family and was taking in paying guests. In 1909 it was leased by James and Grace D'Alton who continued to run a small guest house. In the late 1920's a small building was erected to serve as PO and telephone exchange. C1980 the guest house closed. In 1982 Morningside was demolished.A computer print of a State Library of Victoria Catalogue entry for a stereograph card. Alf Dorey took up LOTs 6 and 7 in Section 2 . He lived in a house of split timbers on the slope west of where 'The Welkin' was built. Roger de Stoop was born in 1912 in Flanders, Belguim. He migrated to Australia and set up a mattress ticking factory in Blackburn North in 1950.The company produced damask ticking. de Stoop sponsored Belgian migrants to work in his factory and built housing for them close to the factory. Early settler William Farndon built 'Callum House' and it became a guest house. This photograph is taken in 1911 and shows guests and members of the Farndon family. The coach is a Campbell's Coach. Callum House later became 'Bonvenu' and then 'The Oaks'.
