Jack Lang was a former NSW ALP state treasurer and was elected Premier on two occasions. His government was dismissed in his second term of government by the State Governor due to his defying the Commonwealth Government's financial agreements' legislation. Sir Philip Game was the State Governor who dismissed Lang. The author of this book is the daughter of the secretary to the Philip Game. Unlike Sir John Kerr (who dismissed Prime Minister Whitlam in 1975), Game expressed some uncertainty about whether his decision to sack Lang's government was sound: "In spite of the popular endorsement of my assassin's stroke, I am still wondering if I did right. I still believe that Lang has a great deal of right on his side, that a lot of what he advocates will have come to pass, and that the extremists on the other side are a greater danger than extreme Labour." John Lundy-Clarke grew up in the Kalorama/Mt Dandenong area and later in life (1972-74) began to write a comprehensive history of the district working from an original settlement map in an effort to cover all areas. Alan Price was the son of Edward John Price and Myra (nee Wilson) Price. He had a brother Edward Joseph 2nd (Teddie). Alan and Teddie were the grandsons of early settlers Edward Joseph and Annie (nee Ross) Price. Alan Price worked at his brother's depot in Ringwood, in charge of mechanical equipment. He rode to and from work on his motorbike. Alan was killed in a motorbike accident on his way home from work in 1971. Alan married Patricia Guerin in 1960. They had five daughters and one son. "My Corps Cavalry: a history of the 13th Australian Light Horse" was written by Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Hunter (Retired) and launched by Deputy Prime Minister Hon Tim Fischer. Tim Fischer served with 1st Battalion Royal Australian Regiment; Doug Hunter served with 8/13 Victorian Mounted Rifles. The 13th Light Horse Regiment (AIF) was raised at Broadmeadows Victoria in March 1915. Following service at Gallipoli the regiment was broken up with squadrons going to France as Divisional Cavalry Squadrons of 2nd, 4th and 5th Divisions. The 10th Light Horse was raised in 1903 from Victorian Mounted Rifles companies in Gippsland. In 1912 the regiment was renumbered 13th Light Horse. In 1920 the regiment had the territorial title Gippsland Light Horse added. The regiment was raised as 13th Light Horse (Gippsland), a Citizen Forces unit. In 1940 the regiment converted from horse to mechanised, initially as 13th Motor Regiment then 13th Armoured Regiment. It trained in Victoria and Queensland but as the Japanese threat to the mainland declined, was disbanded in October 1943 with men going to other units. The 13th Light Horse Regiment (AIF) was raised at Broadmeadows Victoria in March 1915. Following service at Gallipoli the regiment was broken up with squadrons going to France as Divisional Cavalry Squadrons of 2nd, 4th and 5th Divisions. The regiment was reformed as firstly 1st Anzac Corps Mounted Troops and later Australian Corps Mounted Troops.History of 13th Armoured Regiment and its preceding regiments 10th Light Horse (VMR), 13th Light Horse (VMR), 13th Light Horse (AIF) and 13th Light Horse (Gippsland Light Horse) compiled by the President of the regimental association, Claude H Wilson c.1970. See also item 277.2 - photocopy of this item. Features history of the Bendigo trams, the services, personal stories, photos and advertisements from local commerce - published Thursday April 13, 1972. Tram services closed the following Sunday. The 8 page feature in a single sheet of newsprint, with one half printed upside down to the other half. Includes numerous photos of the trams, one of the last staff photo, and item called "1927 and all that" with the memories of Basil Miller, Senior Traffic Inspector. 2nd copy of the feature section added 12/10/2007 ex Graeme Breydon. 1038.1- copy of the Bendigo Advertiser of April 13 1972 - 16 pages, including the supplement. Two page Gestetner copy of an amended timetable for tram services in Bendigo for the SECV issued 29 June 1970. Gives times for the departure from the City and the terminus for the Eaglehawk, Quarry Hill, Golden Square and North Bendigo routes. Page 1 for Monday to Friday, page 2 for Saturday and on the bottom of page 2, details of Sunday services commencing from 2pm, until about 10.30pm. May have been the last timetable issued for Bendigo. On Gestetner foolscap sized paper, stapled in the top left corner. Has a strong association with the story of the BTPS in its first four years, developing the Museum, acquiring additional trams and a brief history of the SEC trams in Ballarat.Newspaper clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, dated 10/1978, titled "Ballarat's tourist tramway carries 100,000th passenger". Printed in a "Courier Tourist" Section, gives details of the 100,000th passenger, BTPS history, that of the trams in Ballarat, closure. On the rear of the sheet continues story and gives details of the then BTPS fleet (14, 26, 27 & 28, 48 and 40). Notes that the BTPS had by then acquired No. 39, W3 661, W4 671, 33 and 11, 121, 35 and X1 463. Features photos of a bus and single truck trams together at Grenville St, a horse tram arriving at Grenville St and a photo of the BTPS depot with No. 40, 27 and 28 on the depot fan. The last ticket to be issued by the conductor of the last SEC operated tram (see Reg Item 1950 for the 2nd last ticket) in Ballarat. Issued to Ray Hall by Lew Walker and marked on rear as such.Two SEC tickets - 18c and 16c. 18c - ticket standard issue at the time - A407234 - See Reg Item 1724 for full details. SEC 16c ticket - yellow ink on off white paper, denomination 16c, lettered A521545, headed State Electricity Commission of Victoria, Provincial Tramways. On rear in yellow ink is a SEC advertisement "ELECTRICITY makes life easier" with the SEC's little boy wrapped in a towel logo. The ticket number is in black ink. On rear in black ink are words "Last ticket issued on Ballarat Tramways Sept 19, 1971. By Conductor L. Walker No 54 on last car 40 from Sebastopol to depot." Each copy consists of a chapter, one page titled "Early History", five pages titled "Part 1 - Horse Trams - Ballarat 1887 - 1905, Sebastopol 1893 - 1912, Ballarat East Nil" Notes on the construction of the tramway, opening, personalities, Julien Battery tram, and half a page titled "Bits of Interest". The 3rd chapter, 3 pages, titled "Part 2 - Electric Trams - Ballarat 1905, Ballarat East, Sebastopol 1912". Notes the early power supply history in Ballarat, opening of the electric routes, (conversion of horse trams to electric), and the purchase of new trams ex Melbourne 1930. Chapter ends with 3 short paragraphs notes on the SEC taking over, Conductresses during the war and reconstruction. Author - unknown - possibly the SEC, Les Denmead and others - notes the scrubber car still in service in 1969? Photocopy of an article in the State Electricity Commission of Victoria Magazine, Contact, Vol 3, No. 2, Aug 1938 titled "The Development of Ballarat's Electricity Supply". Two A3 sheets. The item with six photographs details the history of the development of Ballarat's Power Supply. Details development of the initial power supply in Dana St, the take over by ESCo, DC power initially, expansion, introduction of AC in 1925 to Ballarat, the takeover by the SEC in 1934, changeover from DC to AC, expansion to outlying areas, Buninyong, Creswick etc. Gives description of installed plan, boilers, storerooms and the stores systems. Has photos of the Dana St. building, Ballarat A power station, Ljungstrom Turbo Alternator and three of the stores area. Record revised 3/4/2019 to add digital images with those from Andrew Cook CD. Each item had a thin strip of paper attached by staple to the top left hand corner, giving the Vol. No. details.On rear of 2nd A3 sheet in blue ink details of contact with the BTM by M.
