This plaque comes from the Warrnambool SoundHouse building in Timor Street, Warrnambool. The Warrnambool SoundHouse was one of the Australian SoundHouses foundations which were established to promote music in schools. It was sponsored by Brash’s Music Store in Melbourne but when the Brash company ceased business in 1998 the funding for the Warrnambool SoundHouse stopped and the foundation closed. Thi plaque is retained as a memento of the Warrnambool SoundHouse foundation which promoted music in the local schools in the 1980s and 90s. This is a gold-coloured metal plaque with black printing. Passengers hang out the windows of the vintage steam train as it travels along the Hurstbridge Railway Line. Regular trips travelled from Montmorency to Hurstbridge and return as part of the Shire of Eltham centenary program. The train also stopped at Eltham, Diamond Creek and Wattle Glen stations on the afternoon of Sunday 18th April 1971. This photo forms part of a collection of photographs gathered by the Shire of Eltham for their centenary project book, "Pioneers and Painters: 100 years of the Shire of Eltham" by Alan Marshall (1971). The collection of over 500 images is held in partnership between Eltham District Historical Society and Yarra Plenty Regional Library (Eltham Library) and is now formally known as 'The Shire of Eltham Pioneers Photograph Collection.' The Ruyton Reporter (formerly known as Ruyton Reports) captures the essential Ruyton Girls' School experience for the broader school community. It has been produced since 1986.The record has strong historic significance as it pertains to one of the oldest girls' school in Victoria, Australia. Ruyton was founded in 1878 in the Bulleen Road, Kew, home of newly widowed Mrs Charlotte Anderson (now High Street South). The scales were made by Harrison (Birmingham), founded 1898, which went on to become Harrison Drape. Balance scales for full and half sovereigns also measured the circumference and the thickness. As gold is one of the heaviest metals one way to forge a sovereign in brass would be to make it slightly larger to make up the weight. Smith and H. W. Smith began in 1852 then became known as the Smith American Organ Company. Located in Boston, U.S.A. This organ was used in St Aidens, the Church of England, TawongaWooden organ with 2 hinges to raise the lid from one position and then to the next. There is a decorative wooden barrier to stop the music books from falling onto the keyboard. Above the keyboard are 5 knobs on the left and 6 on the right. The front of the organ is decoratively carved. The 2 foot pedals are covered with cloth. The middle panel on the back has been repaired.
