The article tells of Bert West's discovery of the Little (Fairy) Penguin in his youth and with his two friends, Herbert Denham and Albert Watchorn, decided to introduce the penguins to the public. Visitors would be taken by hire car to Summerland Beach to view the penguins coming in at dusk. At that time people would sit on the sand amongst the penguins as they waddled up the beach. Of course nowadays a large Centre caters for 3 to 4000 visitors during the summertime and also during the rest of the year. A new building is to be erected in 2017/18 in order to move further back from the nesting sites. This item was displayed at the front entrance to encourage visitors to purchase and promote the Sanctuary. This car sticker was a very popular and sought after souvenir selling for 25 cents contributing to the Sanctuary's income. Healesville Sanctuary was the first institution to breed platypus in a total captive situation.and is also the only institution in the world to breed LyrebirdsA promotional circular car sticker depicting a lyrebird tail in full display above a platypus side on. This fossil was found by Peter Cook just west of East Cape at Cape Conran (east of Orbost),. Original correspondence re its identification came from Andy Murray - Conservation & Natural Resources, Orbost. It was on display at the Orbost Visitor Information Centre - the Slab Hut.A fossil tooth from a marine species. The Tawonga Primary School celebrated its centenary with a program including a fete, sports, family dance and combined church service over the weekend of the 25th - 26th Oct. 1980. The newspaper covers the Alpine Shire and included further articles that would interest visitors to the centenary.Tawonga School was one of the earliest schools in the Kiewa Valley supplying an education for the children of the local farming community. The Bogong Hotel at Tawonga, the Tawonga Butter Factory and the town of Mt Beauty articles were printed providing up to date historical information on prime locations nearby. Of interest as the Hotel has burnt down and the Butter factory no longer exists. Alpine Observer newspaper dated Thursday, 23 rd October 1980 with a sketch of the school and articles regarding the Centenary of the Tawonga School on the front page. After the closure of the Bendigo Post Office in Pall Mall in 1997, the ground and lower floors of the building were transformed into a tourism and interpretation centre.
