Josef Thum was an Austrian artist in Camp 13, as a POW. Ken Hill was a member of AAAS - Mobile Cinema Unit 36 around 1946-47 and based at Murchison. 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles Regimental Collection

The 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles was raised as a regiment of the Royal Australian Armoured Corps on 1 May 1948 with Headquarters in Melbourne and squadrons in Sale, Benalla/Wangaratta and Albury. In 1955 Regimental Headquarters moved to Wangaratta and a second squadron was located at Albury. The Sale squadron transferred to 4th/19th Prince of Wales’s Light Horse. In 1977 8/13 VMR Regiment was reduced to an independent squadron A Squadron 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles and in 1991 was linked with 4th/19th Prince of Wales’s Light Horse forming the VMR Squadron of that regiment.Unique collection of photographs showing the first years of an armoured regiment of the post-Second World War era Citizen Military Forces showing equipment, uniforms, training and social activity and some personalities.Black and white photograph of group of nine servicemen in variety of uniforms - Army, Navy and Air Force at Albury Drill Hall. An 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles detachment mountrd in armoured vehicles led the Anzac Day march in Albury between 1950 and 1970. Other soldiers identified in the group include :- John and Ken Beach, Jim Marki, Bill Cameron,Dick Cole, Eric Roberts, Terry Clarkson and Jack Verloop.Collection of photographs showing an armoured regiment of the Citizen Forces in the 1960s as it transitioned from wheeled armoured vehicles to tanks to M113 armoured personal carriers.Black and white photograph of 13 soldiers wearing battledress uniform, boots, gaiters, berets with 8/13 VMR badges, and basic webbing and pistol holsters. From its beginnings in 1958, the Society has mounted exhibitions and/or displays, in early days in shop window and in community spaces located in the Kew City Hall (later Kew Library), and since 2010 at the Kew Court House. Exhibitions typically coincided with the annual Kew Community Festival in March, but after 2013 evolved into three new exhibitions yearly at the Kew Court House. Old Tick was the neighbour of Gus, Bess and Jack Gervasoni in Stanley St, Daylesford. As a toddler Jack Gervasoni would sit on his knee for hours watching his pocket watch - leading to the name 'Tick', and later 'Old Tick'. Annie Wheldon was Tick's daughter and gave many items currently on display at the Daylesford Museum.Black and white photograp of the photograph on the occassion of Gus Gervasoni being shipped out for compulsory service during World War two. Discovered in 2003 when owner, Ken Gray, of Tatura, noticed the covering paper peeling away on the wall of a galvanised iron shed on his property. He believed the shed was bought at the internment camp 4 auction conducted by the Commonwealth Government in the early 1950's and transported to the property which he now owns.Cartoon like painting depicting men (army garrison soldiers) playing billiards.
