Repairs to the Port Melbourne Town Hall clock tower were undertaken c.1950. One member of Council staff stands on top of the pediment while the other 5 are on the temporary scaffolding. The Civic Centenary Thanksgiving Service was held at Holy Trinity Church, Port Melbourne on Sunday 10th July 1960 at 7pm. It was attended by His Worship the Mayor, and the Mayoress, Cr. L.S. TURNER and Mrs TURNER. Councillors who attended included Town Clerk, Mr A.T. AANENSEN, the City Engineer Mr. G.S. WILLIAMS and the City Electrical Engineer Mr J.T. ANDERSON and their ladies. The address was given by the Rev Lawrence E. It gives some of his childhood recollections of Port Melbourne Hotels These include the Shamrock which he understood that it was "... a weatherboard Building - very Badly Conducted and when it was burned down it was not rebuilt...
